Women’s Volleyball Releases 2009 Game Schedule
Dolphins open season on September 1 against Yeshiva

Riverdale, N.Y. – College of Mount Saint Vincent Head Women’s Volleyball Coach Rosanna Falcher released the team’s 2009 game schedule on Monday morning. The slate features 10 home matches and a trip to the Grinnell (Iowa) Tournament for matches on September 11 and 12. The season gets under way on Tuesday, September 1 when the Dolphins host Yeshiva.

The Mount will play four of its first six matches at Hayes Gymnasium in 2009 with the first road trip being to Iowa. The Dolphins will tussle with Yeshiva on September 1 and then host York (N.Y.) on September 8 before traveling to the midwest. When the Dolphins return from Iowa they will play host to a pair of non-conference rivals when New Rochelle comes to Hayes Gymnasium on September 15 and Lehman travels in on September 17.

After a road contest at USMMA-Kings Point on Saturday, September 19, Mount Saint Vincent will welcome Skyline Conference rival Mount Saint Mary to Riverdale on September 22 and then play host to Saint Elizabeth on September 24.

September 26 will mark the first road league contest for the Dolphins when they will travel to Patchogue, N.Y. for a pair of Skyline matches. The Mount will go head-to-head with St. Joseph’s-LI and Old Westbury before coming home for two more non-league contests against Sarah Lawrence on September 29 and William Paterson on October 1.

Following the match to open October the Dolphins will play nine of their final 11 contests on the road starting with a match at CCNY on October 6. From there the Dolphins will head to Farmingdale, N.Y. for league contests with the Rams and Bard on October 10. After the league weekend, Mount Saint Vincent will return to Riverdale for its finals two home matches of the season when it hosts Medgar Evers on October 14 and St. Joseph’s-Brooklyn on October 19.

Mount Saint Vincent will close out the season with six straight matches away from home, including league matches at Purchase on October 20, two matches on October 24 at Maritime with the host Privateers and Polytechnic and a trip to Sage on October 25. The regular season will wrap up a tri-match at Baruch on October 30 when the Dolphins will take on Centenary (N.J.) and the host Bearcats.

The top six teams following the conclusion of regular season play will we compete in the Skyline Conference Tournament with a chance to represent the league with its automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Sage had captured the league crown each of the past two seasons.
