Summary of Position
Operational support and provide technical leadership for the implementation, integration and operational support of enterprise-class web applications, such as Web Event Calendar, OpenText Reddot Content Management System, and Banner web applications in an academic and admiistrative environment. Working closely with the Public Relations department, provide technical support and technical maintenance of the College’s websites.
Reports to: Senior Systems Manager, Computer Services
Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide courteous, responsive service to the College Community
• Troubleshoot problems with applications and processes
• Perform administrative tasks of a more technical nature
• Comply with College computing standards
• Document all projects and share information with other team members and administrators
• Working with the Public Relations department and the Network manager, Administer the College web sites and the OpenText Reddot Content Management system
• Design HTML templates and supporting graphics that are consistent with organization’s design standards.
• Serve as expert consultant to staff on the development of Web structure in support of organization’s objectives.
• Using web programming skills with tools such as ASP, CGI, Pearl, SQL, Javascript, CSS, XML, XSLT, HTML, XHTML, Dreamweaver, Frontpage, etc., create, test, debug and maintain web pages.
• Manipulate images (TIFF, BMP, PSD, JPG, GIF) for online use.
• LAMP (Linux, Apache, mySQL, PHP) experience
• Ensure the security of the web site in conjunction with the Network Manager and Senior Systems Manager
• Monitor web site performance and make necessary adjustments to insure maximum availability and performance including web site capacity planning.
• Perform technology needs assessments, evaluates new technology to determine whether it could be beneficial for the organization web sites, and installs, configures, and tests hardware and software.
• Ensure that organization’s web sites are designed and deployed in a manner that is as accessible and user-friendly as possible but also conforms with College policy, legal requirements, and security standards.
• Develop monthly activity reports monitoring the organization’s site(s).
Requirements
Bachelors Degree and 2-4 years web or programming experience required.
Knowledge of Banner, Oracle, Microsoft and SQL programming is a plus but not required. Enthusiasm for learning new tools in new computing environments is important. Candidate must be able to work closely with a wide range of people with varying skill levels and have good communication skills.
