4/22/2007 - Sophomore Tristan Franz (Brooklyn, NY/Xavier) and junior Vincent Cangiano (Green Brook, NJ/Watchung Hills HS) have had an outstanding 2007 season as the Mount Saint Vincent Men's Tennis third doubles team, but on Sunday they were called upon to shine in singles play, and they did just that. Moments after a tough 9-0 loss to USMMA-Kings Point during their Skyline Conference finale, the Mount took to the court again to host Cooper Union for a Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference (HVMAC) match-up. While the Dolphins fell 9-0 again, their improved effort during the second match was perhaps a sign that as the HVMAC Championships approach, the Mount is ready to compete with the best in the conference. 4/2/2007 - Exactly 1,800 days since their last Skyline Conference victory, the Mount Saint Vincent Men's Tennis team came so incredibly close to breaking their string of conference defeats that they could taste it on Monday afternoon. After Maritime College won two out of three doubles matches, the Mount rallied to capture three of the first five singles matches to tie the score at four. With Mount Saint Vincent's Tristan Franz (Brooklyn, NY/Xavier) and Maritime's Al Said battling at fifth singles, all eyes were on the final match of the day to determine the victor. Ultimately, it was Maritime's Said who scored an 8-2 win, give the Privateers a 5-4 victory, and ensure that the Mount's losing streak in conference competition would continue since their last Skyline win on April 19, 2002 against Old Westbury. But in their second season back at the varsity level, and only days after beginning the 2007 season in earnest, it is clear that the '07 version of the Dolphins is truly heading in the right direction. MacDonald, Cooke, Sens-Castet victorious in singles action, Dolphins 1-2 in doubles play
4/27/2006 - Somebody forgot to tell the Mount Saint Vincent Men’s Tennis team that they were supposed to go down quietly and end the 2006 season without a win. After 10 straight defeats, somebody forgot to mention to Head Coach Frank Fanning that his first season at the Dolphin helm was supposed to end with a listless defeat against a strong Privateer squad. In fact, by the looks of things yesterday, a 4-3 defeat at the hands of Maritime was not much of a loss at all, instead it seemed to be the next step in the development of a program restarted from scratch during the 2006 season. Monday’s match continued the trend as the Dolphins were competitive with the top team in the Skyline, but were unable to register a win. More...
