3/31/2007 - Fans arriving at Sarah Lawrence College for Saturday's 2007 home opener for the Mount Saint Vincent Softball team immediately realized that the softball complex at Sarah Lawrence did not have stands for spectators to sit and watch the doubleheader with St. Joseph's (LI). Mere moments into the Skyline Conference twinbill, they realized that they would not need seats at any point during an afternoon of softball that could have been among the most exciting days in the history of the Dolphin program. During two games that kept the crowd on its feet with every pitch and swing, Mount Saint Vincent turned the Skyline Conference Softball world upside down with a dramatic 14-13 extra inning win over the Golden Eagles during the opener, and a close 5-4 loss during the nightcap that proved that the much-improved Mount team is very much in the thick of things in Skyline Conference play. 3/31/2007 - All five Mount Saint Vincent Spring Sports were in action on Saturday with a mixed bag of results: The Mount Saint Vincent Softball team turned in the biggest headline of the day when they split a doubleheader with 2006 Skyline Conference Champion St. Joseph's (LI) and were in a position to earn a sweep twinbill that was played at Sarah Lawrence College. The Dolphins won one of the most entertaining games in recent history during the opener when they rallied for a 14-13 win as the game went to nine innings. The nightcap was another back-and-forth affair with the Golden Eagles outlasting the Mount, 5-4 in eight innings. Mere minutes after the start of their conference match-up with Medgar Evers, the Mount led 8-0 ... and that was only the beginning. 3/27/2007 - Welcome to college softball, Meagan Gonzalez (Fishers, IN/Hamilton South Eastern HS) ... and if the first two games of your softball career are a sign of things to come, Mount Saint Vincent may have seen the beginning of something special. Gonzalez, a pitcher with a vast arsenal who came to the Mount all the way from Fishers, Indiana pitched both ends of season-opening doubleheader with Lehman College on Tuesday afternoon, and to say that she shined is an understatement. The rookie opened the season with seven innings on the mound, allowing one earned run and striking out six while walking only one as Mount Saint Vincent scored a 2-1 victory over the Lightning. During the nightcap, Gonzalez allowed an earned run during the first inning, but held Lehman scoreless the rest of the way, but Mount Saint Vincent lost 1-0 and are 1-1 entering conference play as the Mount opens Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) competition on Thursday. 3/1/2007 - 12 home games highlight the 2007 Mount Saint Vincent Softball schedule as after a 15-24 finish a year ago, Mount Saint Vincent will look to continue their improvement in Skyline Conference play and challenge once again for the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Championship. Mount Saint Vincent advanced to the HVWAC Semifinals during each of the last two seasons. 5/4/2006 - A little less than two weeks after the Mount Saint Vincent Softball team celebrated Senior Day 2006, the Mount Saint Vincent senior class came back one more time to celebrate a job well done during the last four years, and as a result the Mount is very much in the hunt for the Hudson Valley Women’s Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Championship.
