5/5/2007 - She may be only two months into her college softball career, but based on the final three games of her rookie campaign, Mount Saint Vincent Softball freshman pitcher Megan Gonzalez (Fishers, IN/Hamilton South Eastern HS) can now officially say that she is one of the greatest clutch performers in the history of the Dolphin Softball program. With the Mount's season on the line and a Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Tournament Championship at stake, Gonzalez - who's efforts on the mound have been a catalyst behind the Mount's success all season long - turned in performances that can only be described as legendary despite her youth, and for the first time in five years, Mount Saint Vincent is the HVWAC Tournament Champion, sweeping Saint Elizabeth and St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) on Saturday to claim the tourney title. Despite a tough day at the plate for the Dolphins, with Gonzalez at her best and a fine defense behind her, the Mount pulled out 3-0 and 2-0 wins during games played at Sarah Lawrence College. 4/11/2007 - Senior Jessica Piccoli (Yonkers, NY/Saunders HS) enjoyed a solid day at the plate, going 3 for 4 over two games, and freshman Megan Gonzalez (Fishers, IN/Hamilton South Eastern HS) held a Manhattanville College team, who scored a combined 21 earned runs against the Mount a year ago, to 10 earned runs over two games, but the Mount Saint Vincent Softball team lost both games of a doubleheader to the powerhouse Valiants, 10-0 and 8-0 on Wednesday during games played at Manhattanville College. 4/10/2007 - Freshman pitcher Megan Gonzalez (Fishers, IN/Hamilton South Eastern HS) enjoyed another brilliant day, pitching consecutive complete games while allowing only six earned runs over two games, and the Dolphin defense played splended softball over two games, but the Mount Saint Vincent Softball team lost a doubleheader to Mount Saint Mary, 4-3 in eight innings and 3-1 on Tuesday during games played at Mount Saint Mary. 4/9/2007 - Freshmen Karissa Koerner (Bay Shore, NY/Brentwood HS) and Lisa O'Shea (White Plains, NY/Our Lady of Victory) exploded for an incredible eight hits, nine runs, and nine RBI's and freshman pitcher Megan Gonzalez (Fishers, IN/Hamilton South Eastern) allowed a combined six earned runs over two games as the Mount Saint Vincent Softball team stunned 2005 and 2006 Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Finalist Saint Elizabeth, 13-2 and 16-4 on Monday during a doubleheader played at Saint Elizabeth. 4/8/2007 - Mount Saint Vincent freshman infielder Karissa Koerner (Bay Shore, NY/Brentwood HS) was named the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Rookie of the Week this week after starting her career off with a bang during wins over Medgar Evers and defending Skyline Conference champion St. Joseph's (LI) and battling powerhouse Centenary during a doubleheader loss. After winning HVWAC Rookie of the Week three times during the winter for basketball, Koerner's remarkable efforts early in her softball career is a major reason why the Mount is off to one of the finest starts in the history of the program. 4/1/2007 - Freshman Meagan Gonzalez (Fishers, IN/Hamilton South Eastern HS) enjoyed two outstanding performances on the mound, and the Dolphin defense committed only one error during two games, but the Mount Saint Vincent Softball team was swept in a Skyline Conference doubleheader by Centenary College, 7-2 and 1-0 during games played at Centenary on Sunday. 3/31/2007 - Fans arriving at Sarah Lawrence College for Saturday's 2007 home opener for the Mount Saint Vincent Softball team immediately realized that the softball complex at Sarah Lawrence did not have stands for spectators to sit and watch the doubleheader with St. Joseph's (LI). Mere moments into the Skyline Conference twinbill, they realized that they would not need seats at any point during an afternoon of softball that could have been among the most exciting days in the history of the Dolphin program. During two games that kept the crowd on its feet with every pitch and swing, Mount Saint Vincent turned the Skyline Conference Softball world upside down with a dramatic 14-13 extra inning win over the Golden Eagles during the opener, and a close 5-4 loss during the nightcap that proved that the much-improved Mount team is very much in the thick of things in Skyline Conference play. 3/31/2007 - All five Mount Saint Vincent Spring Sports were in action on Saturday with a mixed bag of results: The Mount Saint Vincent Softball team turned in the biggest headline of the day when they split a doubleheader with 2006 Skyline Conference Champion St. Joseph's (LI) and were in a position to earn a sweep twinbill that was played at Sarah Lawrence College. The Dolphins won one of the most entertaining games in recent history during the opener when they rallied for a 14-13 win as the game went to nine innings. The nightcap was another back-and-forth affair with the Golden Eagles outlasting the Mount, 5-4 in eight innings. With the split, Mount Saint Vincent is now 3-2 overall and 1-1 in Skyline Conference play. Mount Saint Vincent travels to Centenary on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. for a Skyline Conference doubleheader. 3/29/2007 - If anybody wondered whether or not the Mount Saint Vincent Softball team would be ready for the rigors of Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) play for the 2007 season, all questions were answered on Thursday afternoon. Mere minutes after the start of their conference match-up with Medgar Evers, the Mount led 8-0 ... and that was only the beginning. Four innings later, the Mount completed a 28-3 pounding of the Cougars that not only improved the Dolphins to 2-1, but it also sent a message that this season's HVWAC Championship team will have to overcome a very good Mount Saint Vincent squad to get there, if it is not Mount Saint Vincent to win it. 3/27/2007 - Welcome to college softball, Meagan Gonzalez (Fishers, IN/Hamilton South Eastern HS) ... and if the first two games of your softball career are a sign of things to come, Mount Saint Vincent may have seen the beginning of something special. Gonzalez, a pitcher with a vast arsenal who came to the Mount all the way from Fishers, Indiana pitched both ends of season-opening doubleheader with Lehman College on Tuesday afternoon, and to say that she shined is an understatement. The rookie opened the season with seven innings on the mound, allowing one earned run and striking out six while walking only one as Mount Saint Vincent scored a 2-1 victory over the Lightning. During the nightcap, Gonzalez allowed an earned run during the first inning, but held Lehman scoreless the rest of the way, but Mount Saint Vincent lost 1-0 and are 1-1 entering conference play as the Mount opens Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) competition on Thursday. 3/1/2007 - 12 home games highlight the 2007 Mount Saint Vincent Softball schedule as after a 15-24 finish a year ago, Mount Saint Vincent will look to continue their improvement in Skyline Conference play and challenge once again for the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Championship. Mount Saint Vincent advanced to the HVWAC Semifinals during each of the last two seasons. 5/4/2006 - A little less than two weeks after the Mount Saint Vincent Softball team celebrated Senior Day 2006, the Mount Saint Vincent senior class came back one more time to celebrate a job well done during the last four years, and as a result the Mount is very much in the hunt for the Hudson Valley Women’s Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Championship. Pitcher Krista Roberts (Wilmington, MA/Wilmington HS) tossed a complete-game one-hitter, striking out six, and fellow senior Jacqui Dauphinais (S.
