Joe Blackford saved five games for the Dolphins in 2009.
Riverdale, N.Y. – College of Mount Saint Vincent junior baseball player Joe Blackford (Stewartsville, N.J.) has been named an ABCA/Rawlings Third Team All New York Region selection it was announced late Monday. Blackford was third on the team with a .372 batting average and also recorded five saves for the Mount.

Blackford played and started in 34 games as a junior in 2009 and led the Mount in at-bats with 121, triples with four and RBI with 47. He was also the team leader in total bases with 68, walks with 24 and he tied for the team lead with 45 base hits. Blackford was also a perfect 11-11 in stolen base attempts this past season and posted a .968 fielding percentage as the team’s primary right fielder.

On the mound in 2009, Blackford worked 16.1 innings in 12 appearances as a reliever. He allowed just three earned runs over that span while striking out nine and walking just three. He posted a 2-1 record with a 1.65 earned run average in 2009 and opponents hits just .262 off of him.

Blackford was named the Skyline Player of the Week on March 16 and was honored as a First Team All-Skyline Conference selection for the first time in his career in 2009.

Mount Saint Vincent made its second straight appearance in both the Skyline Conference Tournament and the ECAC Tournament in 2009 and finished the season with a 19-17 overall record.
