Josh Cuozzo was named an ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove winner on Monday.
Riverdale, N.Y. – A pair of College of Mount Saint Vincent senior baseball players were recognized with ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Awards it was announced late Monday night. Josh Cuozzo (Westbury, N.Y.) earned the honor for the New York Region at third base, while classmate Mike Ruckdaschel (East Meadow, N.Y.) took the award for the shortstops in the region.

Cuozzo saw time in 30 games for the Dolphins in his senior campaign primarily at third base. In addition to his .327 batting average he was a standout for the Mount all season in the field. He finished the season fourth on the team in assists with 35 and committed just four errors on the season in 93 total chances. His .957 fielding percentage ranked him third on the team amongst regular infielders.

Ruckdaschel also had a strong all-around season for the Dolphins playing primarily at shortstop but also seeing some time at second base. He finished the season second on the team in batting at .375 in 120 at-bats over 33 games. He was first on the team in assists with 66 on the season and committed just six errors in 118 chances. He finished the season with a .949 fielding percentage which matched the Dolphins’ percentage as a team in 2009.

The Dolphins made their second straight appearance in both the Skyline and ECAC Tournaments in 2009 and finished the campaign with a 19-17 overall record.
