The Dolphins will enter Wednesday night’s contest with a 19-16 overall record. The Mount and Stevens tussled in the Dolphins’ season opener on March 8 with the home standing Ducks coming away with a 7-3 victory. James Labartino (Holbrook, N.Y.) went 2-3 in the contest and scored a pair of runs. Corey Kirsh (East Meadow, N.Y.) made the start for the Dolphins and allowed five earned runs on eight hits in 4.2 innings. Rookie Anthony Mongelli (Flushing, N.Y.) worked 2.0 scoreless innings in his collegiate debut.
Mount Saint Vincent has had two players be named All-Skyline Conference it was announced on Monday afternoon. Junior Joe Blackford (Stewartsville, N.J.) was named First Team All-League and senior Nick Triolo (Homer, N.Y.) was named to the conference’s Second Team. Blackford set the program single season RBI record in 2009 with 46 driven in, while Triolo leads the team with four home runs on the season.
The Dolphins have seven players hitting better then .300 for the season and have a .407 on-base percentage as a team. Labartino leads the team with 14 doubles on the year to go along with a team-high 14 steals. Mongelli and John Olsen (Seaford, N.Y.) each lead the way with four wins for the Mount.
The winner of Wednesday’s game will advance to take on top-seeded Rutgers-Newark at Bears Riverfront Stadium in Newark on Friday, May 8 at 4:00 p.m. The winner of that contest will move on to face the winner of Ramapo and USMMA-Kings Point for the division title on Saturday, May 9 at the highest remaining seed.
