Women’s Lacrosse Named Fourth Seed In ECAC South Division Tournament
Dolphins travel to top-seeded Stevens on Saturday

The Dolphins will be the fourth seed in this weekend's ECAC South Division Tournament.
Cap Cod, Mass. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women’s Lacrosse team has been selected as the fourth seed in the upcoming ECAC Division III South Division Tournament it was announced on Monday afternoon. The Dolphins will make their second appearance in three seasons in the tournament and will travel to top-seeded Stevens on Saturday, May 9.

The Dolphins opened the 2009 season at 4-0 and continued strong play through the season to post a 9-6 overall record and a 5-2 mark in the Skyline Conference. The Mount made its third straight appearance in the Skyline Conference semifinals where it was downed by Montclair St. 19-9.

The Dolphins have had four players selected as All-Skyline performers with Kim Freaso (Setauket, N.Y.), Kelly Martin (Stony Point, N.Y.) and Jessie Mitchell (Suffern, N.Y.) being named First Team All-Skyline Conference. Senior Megan Fleri (Islip, N.Y.) was selected as a Second Team All-League honoree.

Martin leads the team in scoring this season and has scored 48 goals and added 19 assists for 67 points. She has also collected 31 groundballs and won 32 draw controls. Mitchell is second on the team in scoring with 28 goals and 17 assists for 45 points. She leads the team in groundballs with 56, draw controls with 67 and caused turnovers with 26.

Stevens will enter the ECAC semifinal with a 15-2 overall record and will be coming off a 16-12 loss to St. John Fisher in the Empire 8 semifinals. The Ducks are led by Alyssa Pigott who has registered an impressive 91 points on 69 goals and 22 assists. The Ducks have five players with at least 40 points on the season and have outscored their opponents 274-164 on the year.

Opening draw for the semifinal contest is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. in Hoboken, N.J. The winner of the Stevens and Mount Saint Vincent contest will take on the winner of FDU-Florham and Gwynedd-Mercy on Sunday, May 10 at 3:00 p.m. for the division championship.
