Joe Blackford has been named First Team All-Skyline Conference in 2009.
Lawrenceville, N.J. – Two College of Mount Saint Vincent Baseball players were named All-Skyline Conference it was announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. Junior Joe Blackford (Stewartsville, N.J.) was named First Team All-Skyline Conference and Nick Triolo (Homer, N.Y.) has earned Second Team All-Skyline Conference honors.

After being named Second Team All-League in 2008, Blackford earned one of the three outfield positions on the first team as a junior in 2009. Blackford is currently third on the team in batting at .371 in 116 at-bats and also third in runs scored with 27. He ranks second on the team with 43 hits and set the program’s single season RBI record this year, knocking in 46 runs. The junior outfielder also leads the team with 24 walks and is a perfect 11-11 in stolen base attempts.

Blackford is also a key piece to the Mount Saint Vincent pitching staff and has registered five saves and a 1.12 earned run average over 11 appearances.  In 16.0 innings of work he has recorded eight strikeouts and opponents are hitting just .246 off of him.

Triolo also had a strong season as a senior for the Dolphins. In 24 games, 18 coming as starts, he is hitting .355 in 76 at-bats. He has scored 16 runs for the Mount in 2009 and totaled 13 extra base hits, including seven doubles and a team-high four home runs. He has also driven in 24 runs and struck out just three times. In the final Skyline Conference doubleheader of the season at Maritime, Triolo combined to go 5-7 over the two games with three home runs and nine RBI.

The Dolphins earned their second straight berth in the Skyline Tournament and advanced to the double elimination round with a 12-8 win over Mount Saint Mary in 11 innings. The Mount was eliminated from the tournament on Saturday with a loss to Old Westbury and is awaiting word on an ECAC Tournament berth. A berth in the tournament would also be the Dolphins second straight. Mount Saint Vincent stands at 19-16 overall on the season.
