Payne scores four second-half goals as Dolphins rally from 8-2 second half deficit but just fall short; MSV awaits possible ECAC selection
Jackie Horn5/2/2007 - Sometimes in sports, even the saddest cloud has a silver lining. Such is the story of the 2007 Women's Lacrosse team who overcame all sorts of adversity to enjoy yet another successful season. Despite an incredibly young team, the Mount finished the regular season 9-7 despite facing the toughest schedule in the history of the program, and the Mount competed with every team on their nationally competitive slate. They also earned the #3 seed for the Skyline Conference playoffs, the highest seed in the program's brief history. And after battling, clawing, and fighting their way back from an 8-2 second-half deficit on Wednesday night to lose 9-8 to Stevens in the Skyline Conference Semifinals, it was clear that if indeed the 2007 campaign has come to an end for the Mount, they end the season knowing they were in fact the best team to ever wear the blue and gold. Comis scores five goals, Martin adds four; Dolphins will face #2 Stevens on Wednesday in Skyline Conference Semifinals; Senior Day next
Chanel Comis4/27/2007 - There is a certain sports cliche about "big players" and their efforts in "big games" that became readily apparent to the Mount Saint Vincent Women's Lacrosse team on Friday night. Engaged in a show-down with Skyline Conference arch-rival Kean University that marked the highest-scoring single game in the history of the Mount Saint Vincent Women's Lacrosse game, a game that was intense as it was exciting, the Mount Saint Vincent veterans proved to be the big players ready to perform in the biggest possible game. As a result, Mount Saint Vincent survived Kean 18-15 and clinched the #3 seed in next week's Skyline Conference tournament. The Dolphins finished a program-best 4-2 in Conference play and will face #2 Stevens on Wednesday, May 2 in the Skyline semifinals. The win also the Mount's third straight as the Dolphins improved to 8-7. More...
Fortier stops eight out of 10 shots, Comis/Martin score four goals apiece as Dolphins improve to 7-7; MSV travels to Kean for Skyline Conference finale on Friday night
Stacie Tripp4/25/2007 - Nearly six weeks later, the Mount Saint Vincent Women's Lacrosse team is finally a .500 program once again. After starting the season 1-1 after defeating Maritime College 26-1 on March 10 and losing 18-10 to Gordon College two days later, the Mount started the season 1-4 and has gradually worked their way back to the .500 mark. On Wednesday, they reached their goal after jumping out to a 7-0 lead en route to a 13-2 win over Ramapo College during a game played at Ramapo. With the win, Mount Saint Vincent is now 7-7 overall and one win away from insuring their third straight regular season finish at .500 or better. More...

With the win, Mount Saint Vincent is now 6-7 overall, 3-2 in Skyline Conference play, and has clinched their second consecutive Skyline Conference playoff berth. The Mount can lock up the #3 seed in the upcoming playoffs with a win at Kean on Friday night. More...
Adams scores twice during first half effort that saw Dolphins trail 5-3 at halftime; MSV travels to Centenary on Monday for crucial Skyline Conference contest
Alexis Alessi4/21/2007 - 55-3. In any sport at any level, being outscored 55-3 over the course of a season is a tell-tale sign that one team has established a significantly higher level of play than another. And during the 2006 Women's Lacrosse season, being outscored 55-3 was a fact of life during three games against Montclair State. During the regular season, Montclair finished an undefeated Skyline Conference campaign with a 17-2 win over the Mount. During the Skyline Conference Semifinals, the Red Hawks cruised to an 18-2 win. A week later at the ECAC Semifinals, Montclair scored a 20-0 victory en route to their first-ever ECAC Championship. And with not a single starter having graduated, the Red Hawks entered Saturday's regular season meeting with the Mount thinking that the 2007 season would bring more of the same. They thought wrong. During a spectacular early effort, Mount Saint Vincent held the lead for much of the early going and trailed only 5-3 at halftime. However, the second half proved to be a different story as Montclair got on track and scored a 13-5 win ... but it wasn't easy. More...
Seven different Dolphins score goals as Mount Saint Vincent improves to 5-6; hosts defending Skyline Conference Champion Montclair State on Saturday
Katie Tucci4/19/2007 - Seven different Dolphins found the back of the net on Thursday afternoon as the Mount Saint Vincent Women's Lacrosse team improved to 5-6 for the 2007 season (after a 1-4 start) with a 16-10 win over Western Connecticut State during a game played at Western Connecticut. Among the seven goal scorers, three Dolphins enjoyed hat-tricks as junior Chanel Comis (Durham, NC/Cardinal Gibbons) tied her season high with four goals, and freshmen Kelly Martin (North Rockland, NY/North Rockland HS) and Katie Tucci (Baldwinsville, NY/Baldwinsville HS) scored three times apiece. Ducks score twice during 38-second span late in the game to overcome outstanding performance by the Dolphins; Comis/Tucci combine for five goals
Chanel Comis4/15/2007 - There was almost no possible way for the Mount Saint Vincent Women's Lacrosse team to have faced more adversity on Sunday afternoon than what they encountered on the slick turf of Wien Stadium at Columbia University. It was raining, pouring, during one of the worst storms of the year, and bitterly cold on top of all of the precipitation. And squaring off with the Mount was a Stevens Institute of Technology team that had all but decimated the Dolphins during the last two seasons. In 2005, the Ducks beat the Mount 17-7. A year ago, it was a 16-4 Stevens victory. And with all of the adversity of the world against them, Mount Saint Vincent did not panic, they did not retreat, instead they turned in perhaps the finest team performance in the history of the program, and for 57 minutes went toe-to-toe with their powerhouse rivals, and even held the lead for much of the game. Unfortunately, as is said in sports, the game is 60 minutes long, and a late Stevens rally saw the Ducks score twice in a 38-second span during the final minutes of play, and Stevens escaped Mount Saint Vincent with a 9-8 win. Three Dolphins score four goals apiece as MSV opens 13-2 halftime lead en route to third win during last four games; Dolphins host Stevens on Sunday
Chanel Comis4/13/2007 - Freshmen Kelly Martin (North Rockland, NY/North Rockland HS) and Katie Tucci (Baldwinsville, NY/Baldwinsville HS), and junior Chanel Comis (Durham, NC/Cardinal Gibbons) scored four goals apiece, and the Dolphin defense held an opponent to 10 goals or less for the sixth time this season as the Mount Saint Vincent Women's Lacrosse team won for the third time during its last four games, 17-5 over visiting Morrisville State on Friday night during a game played at Wien Stadium on the campus of Columbia University. With the win, Mount Saint Vincent now 4-5 after a 1-4 start to the 2007 season. More...
Fortier, Horn combine for 21 saves; Dolphin defense holds TCNJ to five goals during final 40 minutes of play; MSV hosts Morrisville State on Friday
Nicole Fortier4/10/2007 - Freshman goalies Nicole Fortier (East Lyme, CT/East Lyme HS) and Jackie Horn (Setauket, NY/Ward Melville HS) combined to stop 21 out of 34 shots on goal and the Dolphin defense allowed a mere five goals during the final 40 minutes of play, but the Mount Saint Vincent Women's Lacrosse team lost 13-0 to the College of New Jersey - the nation's fifth ranked team - on Tuesday night during a game played at Wien Stadium of Columbia University. With the loss, Mount Saint Vincent saw their two-game winning streak broken and fall to 3-5 overall for the 2007 season. However, losing 13-0 to the 2005 and 2006 Division III National Champions represented a competitive night for the Mount's young program. More...
Dolphins open up 8-1 first half lead against defending Skyline Conference Finalists and holds on to improve to 2-0 in Skyline Conference play; TCNJ next
Kelly Martin4/4/2007 - They were 1-4 and very much at a crossroads for the 2007 season. They had lost four straight games, all close battles to nationally prominent programs but proof nonetheless that they had work to do if they were going to make the playoffs for the second straight season. They were struggling, down, but knew they were one great series away from their turning their season around ... and after a tight 8-6 win over Farmingdale State on Saturday, the Mount Saint Vincent Women's Lacrosse team got that great series on Wednesday night, and the 2007 season is officially on track. An unbelieveble start to their Skyline Conference battle with arch-rival Manhattanville College - the same Manhattanville College team that advanced to the Skyline Conference Championship Game a year ago - led to the Mount's first-ever win over Manhattanville, 14-8 during a game played at Mount Saint Vincent. A year after losing 12-11 in triple overtime to the Valiants, the Mount now finds themselves 3-4 overall, 2-0 in Skyline Conference play, and very much in the hunt to make it to the post-season once again. Dolphins break record losing skid as freshman goalie comes off the bench to stop nine out of 11 shots; MSV hosts Manhattanville on Wednesday
3/31/2007 - 14 minutes into Saturday's Skyline Conference Women's Lacrosse opener between Mount Saint Vincent and Farmingdale State, it appeared as if Mount Saint Vincent was experiencing a season on the brink. After a school-record four straight losses (by a combined 23 goals), including an 8-6 setback to powerhouse FDU-Florham on Thursday, Mount Saint Vincent allowed the first four goals of Saturday's game to undefeated Farmingdale State as the Rams easily built a lead, and appeared to be rolling. With the prospects of a fifth straight loss looming, Mount Saint Vincent turned what could have been a moment of despair into an afternoon of triumph, rallying to score eight of the game's final 10 goals and virtually shutting down the potent Farmingdale offense as the Mount scored an exciting 8-6 win over the Rams to improve to 2-4. More importantly, the Dolphins are 1-0 in Skyline Conference play and experienced the thrill of victory for the first time in three weeks. More...
Men's Lacrosse & Men's Tennis suffer road defeats; Baseball/Softball return to action Sunday
3/31/2007 - All five Mount Saint Vincent Spring Sports were in action on Saturday with a mixed bag of results: The Mount Saint Vincent Softball team turned in the biggest headline of the day when they split a doubleheader with 2006 Skyline Conference Champion St. Joseph's (LI) and were in a position to earn a sweep twinbill that was played at Sarah Lawrence College. The Dolphins won one of the most entertaining games in recent history during the opener when they rallied for a 14-13 win as the game went to nine innings. The nightcap was another back-and-forth affair with the Golden Eagles outlasting the Mount, 5-4 in eight innings. With the split, Mount Saint Vincent is now 3-2 overall and 1-1 in Skyline Conference play. Mount Saint Vincent travels to Centenary on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. for a Skyline Conference doubleheader. Adams scores three times, Horn makes 13 saves as Dolphins lose fourth straight game; Skyline play begins Saturday at Farmingdale
3/29/2007 - While the Mount Saint Vincent Women's Lacrosse team has lost four straight games to fall to 1-4 to open the 2007 season, the fact the losses have come to four of the best teams on their schedule, by a combined 22 goals, proves that the young Dolphins have improved dramatically for the 2007 campaign, their third as a varsity program. The latest example came Thursday night as the Mount hosted 2006 ECAC South Champion FDU-Florham, and lost 8-6 during a game that could have gone either way. A year after FDU opened up a 10-1 halftime lead en route to a 15-9 win over Mount Saint Vincent, the Dolphins battled their powerhouse foe every step of the way, but fell just short. More...

With the loss, the Dolphins fall to 1-3 for the 2007 season with all three loses being by single-digit deficits. More...
Horn makes 17 saves, Fleri scores first career goal as Dolphins drop both games during Spring Training trip; return home Tuesday to host Elmira College
3/15/2007 - When building a program from scratch and trying to the upper echelon of competition that the region has to offer, there are going to be some great nights and some tough nights ... but it seems like almost every night will be a learning experience. Thursday's 10-3 loss to SUNY Brockport by the Mount Saint Vincent Women's Lacrosse team may have been a tough night on the scoreboard, but a closer look at the game revealed something better. In every way, shape, and form, the Mount ran with and in some cases outplayed their SUNY AC foe, holding the powerhouse Golden Eagles off of the scoreboard for more than 18 minutes, and making life difficult throughout. And while Brockport was able to pull away late in the game for a comfortable margin of victory, if there were ever a moral victory, it was Thursday night for Mount Saint Vincent. More...

Mount Saint Vincent seeks to return to post-season once again after terrific 2006 campaign
Mount Saint Vincent Dolphin3/9/2007 - As the curtain rises on the third year of varsity Women’s Lacrosse at the College of Mount Saint Vincent, it is safe too say that Head Coach Michael Spinner has learned only one lesson during his fourth year at the Mount Saint Vincent helm. After a winless club season in 2004, a 12-4 inaugural season in 2005, and a 2006 campaign that saw the Mount finish 9-8 during the regular season and advance to both the Skyline Conference and ECAC Upstate Semifinals, Spinner admits that if there is anything he has learned since beginning the program at Mount Saint Vincent, it is that the unexpected is truly the norm. He claims that he has yet to see the team actualize the expectations he generated prior to the team’s first game. And while most coaches would shun the idea of surprise finishes as the norm, Spinner has embraced the fact that his team routinely failed to perform as their coach expected, and it is something he hopes to see again in 2007.
