The Dolphins’ baseball program is making its second straight appearance in the league tournament. After posting a school record 23 wins in 2008, the Mount has finished the regular season 18-14 overall in 2009 and 11-5 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins enter the tournament as the fourth seed and will host the fifth seeded Blue Knights. The Dolphins have two wins against their opening round opponent this season, as they downed the Knight in Newburgh on April 19 by scores of 11-8 and 11-10.
The women’s lacrosse squad has posted a 9-5 overall record in 2009 and a 5-2 mark in the Skyline Conference. The Dolphins are making their third straight trip to the Skyline Conference semifinals. The two teams squared off on April 15 in Yonkers with the Red Hawks coming away with a 21-9 victory over the Dolphins.
If fans plan to travel to the Montclair St. game you must park in the Red Hawk Deck on the Montclair campus. Also tickets for the semifinal contest will be $3.00 for adults and $2.00 for senior citizens, children and students.
The winners of each game will advance to the weekend with the hopes of earning their first NCAA Tournament bid. With a win baseball would move to the double elimination portion of the tournament to be held May 1-3 at Farmingdale St., while the women’s lacrosse winner would move to the championship game to be hosted by the higher seed.
