| Nora Chivelly recorded three of the Mount's eight hits against New Rochelle. |
The Dolphins got on the board first when they posted two unearned runs in the home half of the third inning. After an errant throw on a missed third strike, Chivelly and and Megan Gonzalez (Fishers, Ind.) raced home to give the Mount a lead they would not surrender.
After the Blue Angels inched to within a run in the top of the fourth, the Dolphins added one run in the bottom of the frame and two insurance runs in the fifth to pick up their 10th win of the season.
Chivelly finished with three of the Mount’s eight hits in the game and raised her average to .324 on the season. Katie Shea (Flushing, N.Y.) ripped a double in the game and junior Karissa Koerner (Bay Shore, N.Y.) recorded her second triple of the season. Both players also scored runs for the Dolphins.
Gonzalez improved her record to 7-4 with the win and also recorded her 11th complete game of the season. She allowed two runs overall, only one earned, on four hits in the contest. She fanned seven Blue Angel batters and did not walk anyone as she lowered her ERA to 3.01 on the season.
The win puts Mount Saint Vincent back over .500 at 10-9 on the season. The Dolphins will close out the Skyline portion of their schedule on Friday afternoon when they travel to Purchase. First pitch with the Panthers is set for 3:30 p.m.
