Saint Vincent Head Men’s Basketball Coach Brian
Nigro ’00 announced to hiring of assistant coach
Nolan Adams on Friday afternoon. Adams will join the
Dolphins staff after serving as an assistant coach at St.
Joseph’s-Brooklyn since 2005.
6/11/2008 - College of Mount
Saint Vincent Acting Director of Athletics Steve Macias
has named Brian Nigro ‘00 to the positions of
Assistant Director of Athletics and Head Men’s
Basketball Coach it was announced Wednesday morning.
Nigro was a standout for the Dolphins in his playing
career, as he ranks second all-time in career assists and
led the Mount to an NCAA Tournament appearance in the
1996-97 season.
2/25/2008 - College
of Mount Saint Vincent freshman Dino Johnson
(Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) has been named the
Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week it was announced on
Monday afternoon. This marks the first time that Johnson
has been honored with a weekly award in his career.
2/25/2008 - The College of Mount
Saint Vincent Men’s Basketball team wrapped up the
2007-08 campaign with a 93-85 triumph at Purchase on
Saturday afternoon. Freshman guard Dino Johnson
(Amsterdam, NY) posted a career-high 27 points
for the Mount and led five players in double-figures.
2/17/2008 - Polytechnic’s
Arjun Ohri hit a three-pointer as time expired and sent
the Fighting Blue Jays to a 75-74 win over the College of
Mount Saint Vincent Men’s Basketball team on
Saturday night. Freshman forward Kyle Byrons
(Goshen, NY/Burke Catholic) led the Dolphins
with a career-high 19 points in the contest.
2/15/2008 - On senior night in
Riverdale, it was a pair of freshman who carried the
Dolphins in a close, hard fought contest with St.
Joseph’s-Long Island. Both teams shot over
50-percent from the field, but it was the Golden Eagles
who came away with a 112-108 win on Thursday night.
Dino Johnson (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam)
led the Mount with a career-best 25 points, while
classmate Kenny Widgeon (Plainfield, NJ/The
Hotchkiss School) poured in 23.
2/7/2008 - Junior Joe
Cooke (Mount Vernon, NY/Fordham Prep) led five
players in double-figures as the Mount Saint Vincent
Men’s Basketball snapped a three game losing skid
with a 122-68 triumph at Bard (6-14, 3-10) on Wednesday
night. Senior captain Derek Charlton (Yonkers,
NY/St. Raymond’s) also had a strong night,
posting 20 points in the win.
2/2/2008 - The College of Mount
Saint Vincent Men’s Basketball team dropped a
heartbreaking 68-65 decision to Maritime on Saturday
afternoon. Senior captain Derek Charlton
(Yonkers, NY/St. Raymond’s) finished the
game with 13 points and a career-high 18 rebounds on his
way to his ninth double-double of the season. Charlton
also set a career milestone on Saturday, as he pulled
down his 500th career rebound in the second half.
1/29/2008 - The College of Mount
Saint Vincent Men’s Basketball team dropped its
second straight decision with a 100-80 loss at the hands
of Old Westbury on Tuesday night. Senior captain
Derek Charlton (Yonkers, NY/St.
Raymond’s) was one of five Dolphins in
double-figures, as he recorded his eighth double-double
of the season.
1/24/2008 - The College of Mount
Saint Vincent Men’s Basketball team picked up its
second consecutive win on Thursday night with an
impressive 101-71 win over Purchase at Hayes Gymnasium.
Junior Joe Cooke (Mount Vernon, NY/Fordham
Prep) led five Mount players in double-figures
with 18 points.
1/19/2008 - The Men’s
Basketball team at the College of Mount Saint Vincent was
edged by Polytechnic (4-10, 2-6) by a score of 90-85 on
Saturday afternoon at the Apex on the campus of Lehman
College. Junior Joe Cooke (Mount Vernon,
NY/Fordham Prep) and freshman Kyle
Byrons (Goshen, NY/Burke Catholic) led the
Dolphins with 16 points each in the contest.
1/14/2008 - The College of Mount
Saint Vincent Men’s Basketball team picked up its
second straight win with a 104-95 win over Bard on Monday
night at Hayes Gymnasium. Freshmen Dino Johnson
(Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) and Kenneth
Widgeon (Plainfield, NJ/The Hotchkiss School)
each recorded career-highs on the night with 22 and 20
points respectively.
1/12/2008 -
Patrick Panetta (Ridgefield Park, NJ/Ridgefield
Park) sank the game-winning free-throw with two
seconds remaining and scored a career-high 18 points as
the College of Mount Saint Vincent Men’s Basketball
team upset Mount Saint Mary 88-87 on Saturday afternoon.
The win snaps a seven game losing streak for the Dolphins
and gives them their first league win of the season.
1/9/2008 - The
College of Mount Saint Vincent Men’s
Basketball team dropped an 80-70 decision on the
road at St. Joseph’s-Long Island on Tuesday
night. In his first career start, freshman forward
Kenneth Widgeon (Plainfield, NJ/The
Hotchkiss School) scored a career-high 18
points. Senior captain Derek Charlton
(Yonkers, NY/St. Raymond’s) also had
a strong night, posting a double-double with 12
points and a career-best 16 rebounds.
1/5/2008 - The
College of Mount Saint Vincent Men’s
Basketball team dropped its sixth straight decision
on Friday night with an 81-62 loss at Westfield
State. The Dolphins put two players in
double-figures in the game, led by freshman
John Foreman (Tarrytown, NY/Sleepy
Hollow) who posted a career-best 12 points.
12/5/2007 -
Joe Cooke (Mount Vernon, NY/Fordham
Prep) and Dino Johnson (Amsterdam,
NY/Amsterdam) scored double-figures on
Tuesday night, but the College of Mount Saint
Vincent Men’s Basketball team fell at Old
Westbury 80-60. Johnson shot 4-7 from the field,
including 2-4 from three-point range.
12/1/2007 -
Junior Joe Cooke (Mount Vernon, NY/Fordham
Prep) went 7-10 from three-point range on
Saturday and Chris Rocco (Saugerties,
NY/Saugerties) posted 21 points, but it was
not enough to beat the pre-season favorite in the
Skyline Conference. Farmingdale St. used 33 points
from Damien Santana to pull out a 90-83 win in each
team’s conference opener at Hayes Gymnasium.
11/21/2007 - While in the
Boston area for the Gordon College Tip-Off Tournament,
the College of Mount Saint Vincent Men’s Basketball
team had the opportunity to attend practice at
Northeastern University. Mount Saint Vincent was
addressed by Northeastern head coach Bill Coen prior to
practice.
11/16/2007 - The College of
Mount Saint Vincent Men’s Basketball has been
picked to finish seventh in the Skyline Conference
Pre-Season Coaches Poll. The Dolphins received 36
points in the poll voted on by the league’s 10
head coaches.
