Dolphins allow two earned runs en route to second straight win; MSV hosts Old Westbury on Saturday
Tony Palandro4/11/2007 - Moments after the Mount Saint Vincent Baseball team scored its second consecutive upset win, a 5-3 stunner over Skyline Conference powerhouse Manhattanville College on Wednesday at Manhattanville, one thing was clear: The playoff hunt has officially begun for the Mount. Despite a 4-11 overall record and a 2-5 mark in Skyline Conference play, by virtue of consecutive wins over post-season regulars Centenary and Manhattanville, it is clear that the Mount is a team to beat as the home stretch of the 2007 season begins and the playoff push has just become very interesting. Mount Saint Vincent scored the win on Wednesday using three qualities they did not see during an eight-game losing streak that seemed to put the Dolphins out of playoff contention: Great pitching, excellent defense, and clutch hitting. With a dozen conference games remaining, should the Dolphins continue this trend, their first ever post-season bid is not out of the question. More...
Dolphins rally from 8-0 deficit to win nightcap during thrilling twinbill to break eight-game skid; travel to Manhattanville on Wednesday
Tanner Munroe4/9/2007 - And just like that, the 2007 Baseball season has a new meaning at the College of Mount Saint Vincent. After losing the opening game of a Skyline Conference doubleheader with 2006 Conference Champion Centenary on Monday during a game that featured an ending that was as heartbreaking as it was controversial, the Mount quickly fell behind 8-0 during the nightcap. But with the doubleheader and in many ways the 2007 season on the line, Mount Saint Vincent rallied for an 11-9 win to break an eight-game losing streak and put the Mount right back in the chase for the program's first-ever post-season bid. Mount Saint Vincent is now 3-11 overall, 1-5 in Skyline Conference play, but by splitting a series with one of the premiere teams in the region they proved they could compete with anybody. More...

4/1/2007 - The opening weekend of the Skyline Conference play proved to be a downer for the Mount Saint Vincent Baseball team as the Dolphins dropped all four games and have lost seven straight games overall. But despite the current skid, the Mount did enough notable things by enough young players during the weekend to prove that they are very much in the mix as conference play heats up. Mount Saint Vincent dropped a doubleheader to Stevens on Sunday, losing 11-4 and 12-6, and are now 2-10 overall and 0-4 in conference play. However, the news was not all bad. More...
Freshmen Brestolli, Blackford provide offensive fireworks during opener; Schor has monster game in nightcap; Dolphins travel to Stevens for Sunday doubleheader
3/31/2007 - Two games into the Skyline Conference portion of the Mount Saint Vincent Baseball schedule for the 2007 season, two things were clear: The Dolphins have everything it takes to compete with the very best the conference has to offer, but if they are going to advance to the post-season for the first time, ever, all of the components have to come together in a hurry. During 13-4 and 8-5 losses to Mount Saint Mary, the Mount did many things right, but they also did not do quite enough to overcome a very good Blue Knight team, and fell to 2-8 overall and 0-2 in Conference play. The Dolphins have now lost five straight games. More...

The Dolphins won one of the most entertaining games in recent history during the opener when they rallied for a 14-13 win as the game went to nine innings. The nightcap was another back-and-forth affair with the Golden Eagles outlasting the Mount, 5-4 in eight innings. With the split, Mount Saint Vincent is now 3-2 overall and 1-1 in Skyline Conference play. Mount Saint Vincent travels to Centenary on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. for a Skyline Conference doubleheader. Read all about the Mount's prospects for the 2007 season under new Head Coach Steve Macias
Mount Saint Vincent Dolphin3/11/2007 - For the last two seasons, they have been the team that has shocked the local baseball world by competing with the very best the region has to offer despite the fact that prior to 2005 they had never played a game. But despite successes that have led to a 31-39 overall record and a near-.500 record in Skyline Conference play during their first two seasons, the post-season has been elusive for the Mount Saint Vincent Baseball team. As the 2007 season kicks off, the frustrations of not yet reaching the playoffs appear to be coming to an end as for the first time the Dolphins will field a veteran baseball team, and with a seasoned veteran Head Coach now at the Dolphin helm, all signs point to the most successful season yet for the Mount. Dolphins to face local rivals Mercy, Lehman, John Jay, CCNY on top of challenging Skyline Conference schedule under first year Head Coach Steve Macias
2/9/2007 - Mount Saint Vincent Head Baseball Coach Steve Macias may be in his first year at the Dolphin helm, but his efforts to plan perhaps the most competitive and challenging schedule in the history of his program suggest experience far greater than that of a rookie. The Mount will play 38 games during the 2007 campaign, including match-ups with some of the best teams in the area, on top of the always-challenging Skyline Conference slate. Mount Saint Vincent opens the Macias era on March 5 when they host Division II Mercy College at 3:00 p.m. at Van Cortlandt Park. Macias said while he is in his first season, he wanted to challenge his team to rise to the occasion and aspire to be one of the top teams in the region. More...

Redshirt freshman tosses gem during first career start; Dolphins’ bats explode for 15 hits
4/30/2006 - It’s safe to say that Mount Saint Vincent’s Zach Munroe (Milford, CT/Foran HS) was well-rested heading into his start on Sunday against Maritime College. After all, the last time Munroe had thrown a pitch was the Spring of 2004 when he was a senior at Foran High School in Milford, CT. Since then, Munroe missed the 2005 season thanks to injury, and has patrolled the Dolphin outfield admirably during the 2006 season, but it wasn’t until Sunday that he was asked to return to the mound. Eight brilliant innings later, Munroe may have made a case to remain in the Mount rotation, and the Dolphins exploded for an incredible 15 runs en route to a 15-2 win over Maritime College during a game played at Purchase College.
