| The Dolphins will take on top-seeded Hunter in the ECAC South Tournament. |
The Dolphins are coming off their first ever Skyline Conference Championship on March 15. The Mount downed Yeshiva in the semifinals by a 3-0 score and then bested 2008 champion Bard in the championship match by a score of 3-1. Senior T.J. Pufahl (Bethpage, N.Y.) was named the Tournament Most Valuable Player for his performance over the two matches and senior setter Chris Dotoratos (Bronx, N.Y.) handed out 70 assists in the title tilt.
Mount Saint Vincent had four players earn postseason Skyline Conference Awards in 2009. Pufahl and Dotoratos were joined on the league’s First Team by sophomore John Furka (Massapequa, N.Y.). Junior Rob Hockenjos (West Hempstead, N.Y.) was named Second Team All-League in 2009 and head coach Tom Callahan earned Coach of the Year honors for the second consecutive season.
The Mount will take on Hunter on Saturday in Maryland at 12:00 p.m. The two teams tussled earlier in the season with the Hawks earning a 3-0 win at Hayes Gymnasium while being ranked #15 nationally. Freshman Matt Krauszer (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) led the Dolphins with eight kills in the contest, while Dotoratos paced the squad with 19 assists and seven digs. Wojciech Jakubiak led all players with 10 kills for Hunter.
The Dolphins will enter the match on Saturday with a 15-13 overall record. The winner of the Mount Saint Vincent – Hunter contest will take on the winner of Stevenson and NJCU for the division championship.
