College to Honor Donors at President’s Associates Reception
3/19/2009 - The College of Mount Saint Vincent will hold a private reception for alumni and friends who have generously donated to the school.  The event will take place on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at 6:00 p.m. in the President’s Reception Room.  The reception will be followed by a panel discussion at 7:30 p.m. in Smith Hall to celebrate the bicentennial of the Sisters of Charity.  Special guest, Monsignor Thomas Shelley, history professor at Fordham University and author of The Archdiocese of New York: The Bicentennial History, 1808-2008, will lead the panel.

The President’s Associates are a society of donors each committed to making contributions of $1,000 or more every year to the school’s Annual Fund. The support of the alumnae/i and friends is used in a variety of ways, including financial aid programs, faculty development, student activities, buildings and grounds maintenance. Every spring the President’s Associates are honored for their dedication to the Mount.

This year’s panel will discuss the Sisters’ involvement in education. It will be led by Monsignor Thomas Shelley and will include three panelists working in the education field; Margaret A. Dames, Ed.D. ’65, Superintendent of Schools and Director of the Office for Education in Bridgeport, CT; Dominica Rocchio, SC, Ed.D., Regional Coordinator for the Sisters of Charity; and Mary Ellen Sullivan, Ph.D., ’85, Assistant Professor of Teacher Education at the College of Mount Saint Vincent.  President’s Associates Reception is by invitation only, the lecture is open to all.
