Mount Student Reports the Weather for WXTV Univision
Christina Gonzales Selected as a Guest Reporter for Station’s New Segment Amigos del Tiempo
3/12/2009 - Christina González, a senior at the College of Mount Saint Vincent, was selected in early January of this year by WXTV Univision 41 to be a part of their new news segment Amigos del Tiempo (Friends of the Weather).  This segment enables participants to send in weather videos of their local areas, which may be broadcasted during WXTV Univision 41’s newscasts.

To be included, individuals record themselves doing a weather report and submit it on Univision’s website.  Subsequently, viewers of WXTV Univision 41 vote online for their favorite videos.  González was one of eight winners selected based on the online voting.  The winners are given video cameras and the opportunity to meet with Noticias Univision 41 weather reporter Nilda Rosario and discuss how weather reports are produced.

González, who is majoring in Communications and Spanish and minoring in International Studies, is excited and appreciative for the opportunity.  “I am very thankful to those who voted for me on,” she says. “I am also especially grateful to WXTV for creating this opportunity that may make it possible for me to reach my career goals.”

González submitted videos that have been aired on the evening newscasts. She aspires to work in the news industry either as a reporter or a producer.
