Amaral finished the night with 14 winners against just four attack errors in 22 total attempts. He also contributed four defensive digs and a pair of block assists in the win. Classmate Matt Krauszer (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) also had a strong night, posting a .750 hitting percentage with nine kills in 12 attempts. Krauszer also finished with six digs in the contest for the Dolphins.
Sophomore John Furka (Massapequa, N.Y.) posted an even .500 hitting percentage with six kills, while T.J. Pufahl (Bethpage, N.Y.) added eight winners, three service aces and a team-high seven digs.
Senior setter Chris Dotoratos (Bronx, N.Y.) finished the night with a match-high 36 assists to go along with three aces, four digs and a pair of total blocks. Rob Hockenjos (West Hempstead, N.Y.) led the team in total blocks with five and also chipped in five kills.
As a team, the Mount hit .410 in the match and assisted on 45 of its 47 kills. The team posted seven service aces, 32 digs and combined for 5.5 total team blocks.
Polytechnic was led by James Lukban who posted eight kills on the night. Jay Kwon finished with seven digs for the Blue Jays and Robert Petri totaled 18 assists.
The win pushes Mount Saint Vincent’s overall record back to the .500 mark at 9-9. The win also improves its Skyline record to a perfect 5-0 and its NECVA Metro record to 3-4. After a day off on Wednesday the Dolphins will host Yeshiva on Thursday night. The match with the Maccabees is slated for 8:00 p.m. at Hayes Gymnasium.
