Jen Mocanu Earns Fourth Skyline Rookie Of The Week Award

Lawrenceville, N.J. – College of Mount Saint Vincent freshman Jen Mocanu (Middletown, N.J.) has been named the Skyline Conference Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week in the final report of the season it was announced on Tuesday. The honor is Mocanu’s fourth of the season and second in the past three weeks.

Mocanu had a strong week for the Dolphins in helping them advance to the Skyline semifinals for the third straight season. The rookie guard/forward averaged 20.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists for the Mount over its two games in the conference tournament. She posted 20 points, seven rebounds and three helpers in the quarterfinal matchup against St. Joseph’s-LI and then finished with 20 points, nine boards, a block, a steal and five assists in the semifinal at Farmingdale St. For the week she shot 45.5.-percent (15-33) from the floor and 87.5-percent (7-8) from the free-throw line.  

At 16-11 overall on the season, Mount Saint Vincent earned the fourth seed in the upcoming ECAC Division III Metro Division Tournament. The Dolphins will square-off with the College of Saint Elizabeth on March 4 in Morristown, N.J. Tip-off with the Eagles is set for 7:00 p.m.
