Mount Saint Vincent Sweeps Skyline Men’s Volleyball Weekly Awards
Guerrero, Amaral earn honors for the Dolphins

David Guerrero earned his third Skyline Player of the Week award on Monday.
Lawrenceville, N.J. – Two College of Mount Saint Vincent Men’s Volleyball players have been honored by the Skyline Conference with weekly awards it was announced on Monday afternoon. David Guerrero (East Meadow, N.Y.) was named the league’s Player of the Week for the third time this season, while Justin Amaral (Warwick, R.I.) earned Rookie of the Week honors for the first time in his career.

Guerrero, a sophomore outside hitter, averaged 6.00 kills, 2.50 digs and 0.67 service aces per game over two matches for the Dolphins last week. In the Dolphins match at Purchase on February 20, Guerrero led the Dolphins to a 3-1 triumph with 23 kills, eight defensive digs and four service aces. He also posted 13 kills and seven digs on February 18 at then #3 Vassar.

Amaral, a freshman outside hitter, was good for 2.86 kills, 2.00 digs and 0.43 total blocks per game for the Dolphins last week. At then #3 Vassar, Amaral posted seven kills and six digs. He followed that up with a career-high 13 kills and eight digs as the Mount won on the road at Purchase this past Friday.

The split last week moves the Dolphins record to 7-8 overall on the season and the win at Purchase keeps the Mount perfect in Skyline Conference play at 4-0. Next up for Mount Saint Vincent is a home match on Monday night against Lehman. The match is slated for 7:00 p.m. at Hayes Gymnasium.
