Costa came home with the Mount’s top individual finish of the meet when she placed second in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 6:21.96. She also recorded a pair of third places finishes at the championship meet, taking third in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:22.33 and the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:03.54.
Costa shares the award with Kaitlyn Raitz of Purchase, while Nicole Hatzispirou of St. Joseph’s-LI and Annie Parodi of Mount Saint Mary shared the Swimmer of the Year award. Purchase’s Peter Nestel was named the league’s Coach of the Year after guiding the Panthers to a 9-1 record overall and a perfect 5-0 mark in the Skyline Conference.
The Dolphins closed out the 2008-09 campaign with a 3-6 overall record, a 1-3 mark within the league and a fifth place finish at the championships.
