Core Curriculum Requirements:
Computational Math with Spreadsheets (MATH 107) plus one other Math course. For the second course, most students take Mathematical Modeling (MATH 102) or Introduction to Statistics (MATH 118) or Statistics (MATH 119).
Requirements for a Major in Mathematics:
A major program in Mathematics leads to a B.A. Students must earn 51 Math credits: Calculus I, II, III, Linear Algebra I, Linear Algebra II, Symbolic Computing, Numerical Computing, Abstract Algebra I, Abstract Algebra II, Introduction to Higher Geometry, Differential Equations, Analysis, Vector Calculus, Probability Distributions & Statistical Inference, plus two other Math courses , except as noted below.
The Math requirements for Math Majors pursuing certification in secondary school education total 39 credits and consist of Calculus I, II, III, Linear Algebra I, Symbolic Computing, Numerical Computing, Abstract Algebra I, Introduction to Higher Geometry, Analysis, Probability Distributions & Statistical Inference, plus two other Math courses.
The Math requirements for Math Majors pursuing certification in elementary school education total 33 credits and consist of Calculus I, II, III, Linear Algebra I, Computational Math with Spreadsheets, Symbolic Computing, Introduction to Higher Geometry, Probability Distributions & Statistical Inference, Math for elementary school teachers, plus one other Math course.
A minimum grade of “C” in each of the required courses is necessary for the major. Before taking any major course, the student must obtain a grade of “C” or better in any prerequisite course.
Requirements for a Minor in Mathematics: Eighteen credits in approved courses including Calculus I, II, III. A minimum grade of “C” is required in all courses.
