Brooklyn, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women’s Basketball team held Polytechnic to 26.4-percent shooting and a season-low 39 points in a 60-39 road win on Saturday. The Dolphins also had a balanced scoring attack, with junior Karissa Koerner (Bay Shore, N.Y.) leading four players in double-figures with 14 points.

The Dolphins never trailed in the contest and held Polytechnic to just 10 points on 4-20 shooting in the first half. The Dolphins took a 33-10 lead into the half and did not allow Polytechnic to score over the final 11:53 of the half. Jen Mocanu (Middletown, N.J.) led all scorers in the first half with nine points.

Polytechnic scored its first basketball of the second half at the 17:36 mark, snapping a scoring drought of over 14 minutes. The Dolphins’ lead never fell below the final 21 point advantage and the Mount held a lead as large as 40 points on a Koerner triple with 13:15 left in the contest.

Overall in the contest, Mount Saint Vincent shot 42.4-percent from the floor, including an even 50-percent in the second half. The Mount knocked down seven threes in the contest, while converting just three free-throws.

The Mount Saint Vincent defense held the Blue Jays to that 26.4-percent shooting number in the game, which is just off its season low of 26-percent that Sage converted on January 6. The 39 points is two fewer than the pervious season low, which Sage recorded in that same contest.

Koerner finished 5-7 from the field overall, including 4-5 from long distance. Mocanu finished the tilt with 13 points on 6-12 shooting, while Lauren Percodani (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Courtney Heesemann (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) finished with 11 and 10, respectively. Heesemann finished with 10 rebounds on the afternoon, recording her seventh double-double of the season.

Megan Bosi led the Blue Jays with 13 points, while Margaux Pickell posted a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.

The win is Mount Saint Vincent’s second straight and improves its record to 12-9 overall and to 11-3 in league play. Next up for the Mount is a road contest at Yeshiva on February 10. Tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m.
