CMSV -- CIS Events 2008-2009 Academic Year

Fall 2008:

  1. The Agreement of Cooperation is officially signed between the College of Mount Saint Vincent and St. Petersburg State University of Economics and Finance, Russia, on December 8, 2008;
  2. Member of International Education Advisory Council, Ms. Noreen Culhane, Executive Vice President – Global Markets Group, NYSE Euronext, greeted the Russian delegation at the New York Stock Exchange on December 8, 2008;
  3. Department of Business and Economics reception hosting Russian delegation and Business Club dinner for Russian delegation were held on December 8, 2008;
  4. Students and faculty participated in the International Entrepreneurship Week event at the New York Stock Exchange on November 21, 2008;
  5. International Studies (IS) minor had started by the Department of Modern Foreign Languages – we have 16 students as of Fall 2008;
  6. Study Abroad programs advertised: Japan, Italy, and Russia;
  7. Dr. Luz Palmero is initiating cooperation with the World Leadership School.  This program will provide opportunities for our students to intern in Peru, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Belize and Guadeloupe;
  8. International course “ECON 370: Women in Labor Market: US and Russia” had a successful run with guest-lecture series presented by women-professionals with international experience.  Member of International Education Advisory Council, Ms. Kathryn Swintek, gave presentation to this class on October;
  9. Students and faculty participated in the Women on Wall Street Conference sponsored by Deutsche Bank on October 21, 2008;
  10. Talk by H. E. Vitaly Churkin, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations at Columbia University was attended by faculty and students on October 20, 2008.
