Jen Mocanu was named Skyline Rookie of the Week on January 12.

Lawrenceville, NJ – College of Mount Saint Vincent freshman Jen Mocanu (Middletown, NJ) has been named the Skyline Conference Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week it was announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. This marks the first time in her career that Mocanu has been honored with a conference weekly honor.

Mocanu had a strong week for Mount Saint Vincent and averaged nearly a double-double over a pair of games. For the week she was good for 17.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game as the Dolphins picked up league wins over Sage and Polytechnic.

Against the Gators on Tuesday she posted 12 points and seven rebounds to go along with five steals. To close out the week she went for 22 points on 8-17 shooting overall and 4-6 shooting from long range against the Blue Jays. She also pulled down nine rebounds, handed out four assists and recorded a block and a steal. For the week she shot 43.3-percent from the field overall and an even 50-percent from three point range (6-12). She also posted four assists, a block and six steals over the two games. 

The two wins move Mount Saint Vincent to 6-7 overall and to 5-1 in the Skyline Conference. The Dolphins will be back in action again on Wednesday when they travel to Skyline rival Purchase. Tip-off with the Panthers is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
