Karissa Koerner averaged 21.8 points per game over four contests during break for the Dolphins.
LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – College of Mount Saint Vincent junior Karissa Koerner (Bay Shore, NY) has been named the Skyline Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week it was announced on Monday afternoon. Form December 15 through January 4 Koerner averaged 21.8 points and 3.8 rebounds over four games.

Against Montclair State on December 16, Koerner score a then career-high 29 points on 9-19 shooting, including 7-13 from long distance. She also pulled down seven rebounds in the overtime loss to the Red Hawks and added an assist, a block and a steal. She followed that up with a 17 point performance at William Paterson two days later and also finished with four boards and a steal against the Pioneers.

In two games at the Wesley College Classic in Dover, Delaware Koener averaged 20.5 points and 2.0 rebounds. She opened the Classic with a nine point effort against host Wesley before exploding for a career-high 32 points against Greensboro (N.C.) College. Against The Pride Koerner finished 10-17 from the floor and knocked down a career best eight triples, going 8-11 from long distance. She also added three rebounds, two steals and a block in the contest.

For the season Koerner leads the Dolphins in scoring at 15.1 points per game and in free-throw percentage and is second on the squad among starters in field goal percentage and three-point field goal percentage.

At 4-7 overall on the season, Mount Saint Vincent will look to snap a four game losing skid on Tuesday when it hosts Skyline rival Sage. Tip-off with the Gators is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at Hayes Gymnasium.
