ADVANCED PLACEMENT POLICY FOR THE DIVISION OF NATURAL SCIENCES:

Advanced Placement Biology Exam

For students who are science majors or minors, or who plan to attend medical school:
Score of 4 or 5:
Awarded 8 credits, and waived from General Biology sequence (BIOL 111, 113, 112, 114)*
Score of 3:
Awarded 3 credits applied toward free electives only
Score of 1 or 2:
No credit or placement

*Note: Since some medical schools do not accept AP credit in lieu of General Biology I and II, students who plan to attend medical school may wish to request a 3-credit free-elective award instead of credit and placement out of the General Biology sequence.

For students who are not science majors or minors:
 Score of 3, 4, or 5:
Awarded 3 credits and satisfaction of core requirement (BIOL 101/102)
Score of 1 or 2:
No credit or placement

For students who are science majors or minors, or who plan to attend medical school:
Score of 4 or 5:

Score of 3:
Awarded 3 credits applied toward free electives only
Score of 1 or 2:
No credit or placement
