Lisa O'Shea posted 10 kills and five digs at Mount Saint Mary on Tuesday.

NEWBURGH, NY – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women’s Volleyball team dropped a hard fought 3-2 decision at Mount Saint Mary on Tuesday night in its Skyline Conference finale. Scores of the contest were 22-25, 25-18, 20-25, 25-18 and 9-15 in favor of the home standing Blue Knights. The Dolphins were led by junior Lisa O’Shea (White Plains, NY) and sophomore Christina Pierre (Bronx, NY) who each finished with 10 kills.

O’Shea and Pierre combined for exactly half of the Mount’s 40 kills in the contest. O’Shea added five digs for the Dolphins, while Pierre chipped in with four of the team’s six total blocks.

Freshman Jessica Williams (Cornwall, NY) finished the match with nine kills for Mount Saint Vincent, with Irma Nepomuceno (Bronx, NY) and Kystal Miranda (Putnam Valley, NY) adding five and four, respectively.

Mount Saint Vincent had two players post double figures in defensive digs on Tuesday with freshman Renee Reynes (Bronx, NY) leading the way with a match-high 38. Sophomore Caryl Garcia (Yonkers, NY) finished up with 11 on the night. Miranda posted a match-high 31 assists in the contest for the Dolphins.

Mount Saint Mary (12-17, 6-3 Skyline) was led by Courtney Kenney with 18 kills and Melissa Ribeiro who chipped in with 11. Teresa Sorrentino and Heather Schaeffer each collected 22 digs, while Katie Toole recorded 26 assists in the winning effort.

The loss, Mount Saint Vincent’s fourth straight, drops the Dolphins to 10-9 overall on the season and to 3-6 in Skyline Conference play. The Mount will be back in action again on October 29 at Sarah Lawrence. The regular season finale is slated to get underway at 7:00 p.m. in Bronxville.
