Cross Country Teams Shine At St. Joseph’s-LI Invitational
Women finish fifth, Men’s team eighth

Angelica Iribarne finished third on Saturday at the St. Joseph's-LI Invitational.
PATCHOGUE, NY – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams both had solid showings on Saturday at the St. Joseph-LI Invitational. The women’s team finished the event fifth out of 10 teams, while the men’s squad took eighth out of 13 teams. Angelica Iribarne (Hasbrouck Heights, NY) was the women’s top finisher and Andrew Giordano (Staten Island, NY) led the men’s team.

Iribarne finished the race in third place for the Dolphins in a time of 21:45. She was followed by Stephanie Widmer in 14th place in a time of 23:29 and Ana Garcia (Kingwood, NJ) in 31st in a time of 26:06. Mary Eileen Kiernan (Rockaway Point, NY) and Teresa Santini (Lynbrook, NY) also had strong runs for the Mount, placing 36th and 48th, respectively.

Giordano paced the men’s team on Saturday with a 40th place finish in a time of 33:38. He was followed by Ralph Kiszakewicz (Ozone Park, NY) in 42nd place with a time of 34:18 and Colin Galvin (Thiells, NY) in the 44th position with a time of 34:22. Rounding out the field for the Mount Saint Vincent men were Shane Thomas (Mount Vernon, NY) in 48th place and Renaldo Phillip (White Plains, NY) in the 59th position.

The Dolphins will return to the trails again on Sunday, November 2 when they compete in the Skyline Conference Championships held at Bard. Iribarne is the defending women’s champion from a year ago.
