The Dolphins dropped just one game in singles competition against Polytechnic, as Kim Carreon, Karen Laurent (Queens, NY) an Lauren De Riggs (Freeport, NY) all scored 6-0, 6-0 victories for the Mount. Jessica Lorenzen (Demark, ME) also turned in an impressive showing with a 6-1, 6-0 win at fourth singles.
Mount Saint Vincent also had a strong showing in the doubles competition against the Blue Jays, as Carreon and De Riggs finished with an 8-0 win at the first position. Michele Kirby (Bloomingdale, NJ) and Courtney McElhone (Wading River, NY) posted an 8-5 win for the Mount at second doubles.
On Sunday against CCNY, the Dolphins picked up where they left off against Polytechnic. Laurent posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles, while Lorenzen and McElhone also picked up 6-0, 6-0 victories at third and fourth singles, respectively. De Riggs was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at second singles and Kirby posted a 6-2, 6-2 win for the Mount at the fifth position.
Laurent and Lorenzen also teamed up for an impressive 8-0 win at first doubles, while McElhone and Jennifer O’Brien (Brooklyn, NY) posted an 8-5 triumph at the second position.
The pair of wins moves Mount Saint Vincent’s overall record to 4-11 on the season and the win over Polytechnic gives the Mount a 1-7 record in Skyline play. The Dolphins will close out the regular season on October 22 with a non-conference match at St. Joseph’s-Brooklyn. The match at the National Tennis Center is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
