Can I major in
pre-law?
Pre-law is not a major at any academic institution, but
at Mount Saint Vincent you may participate in our pre-law
program in conjunction with any major you choose. The
pre-law program consists of a series of courses that help
you prepare for, and gain admission to, law school.
What
does it mean to be an undecided
major?
If
you enter the College as an undecided major,
you’ll be in good company; half of our incoming
students haven’t yet settled on a major. All
students at the Mount take core
curriculum courses, giving them the opportunity to
explore all different types of academic programs. They
declare a major after their sophomore year.
How
successful is your nursing program?
Our nursing program is extremely
well regarded, and our students have had great success.
In fact, a large majority of our graduates pursue masters
education in nursing.
Do you have a program to help students with learning
disabilities?
We don’t have any programs
specifically targeted to students with learning
disabilities, but our academic support
services office offers a range of free services for
all students. Services here include study skills classes,
tutoring, peer tutoring, a writing center, and more.
Do you have an honors
program?
Yes. Our honors program offers
challenging classes and a variety of dynamic learning
experiences, including independent research and creative
projects. Students who earn the Erasmus Scholarship at
the time of their admission are expected to participate
in the honors program.
Do you offer any five-year
bachelor’s/master’s programs?
Yes. Our five-year program in education allows students
to earn a bachelor’s and a master’s in
education within five years.

How large are your
classes?
With a student-faculty ratio of 13:1, you are certain to
know your professors—and they’ll know you.
While class size varies from one subject to another, our
average class has 15 students.
Can
I study abroad as a Mount Saint Vincent
student?
Yes! Traveling abroad is a great
opportunity to learn about other cultures and broaden
your experience. Mount Saint Vincent participates in
travel-abroad programs in England, Ireland, France,
Italy, Spain, and Mexico.
How
many computers are available to students?
Mount
Saint Vincent has 10 computer labs across campus to serve
your computer needs. Lab hours vary; some are open around
the clock, while others close at the end of the business
day. And computer support services are available through
the Help Desk, which is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday
through Thursday, and until 4:30 p.m. on Fridays.
What is the core
curriculum?
The core curriculum is a series of
courses that all Mount Saint Vincent students take,
providing a common intellectual experience and a core of
shared learning. The core extends over a full four years,
pairing classes from a range of disciplines to provide
every student with a solid foundation of knowledge, an
appreciation of values, and a wide range of skills such
as analysis, problem solving, and communication.
