Iribarne Wins Third Straight Race To Open 2008 Season
Women take eighth, men 11th at Bard invitational

Angelica Iribarne won the Bard Invitational on Saturday with a time of 20:32.
ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON – Sophomore Angelica Iribarne (Hasbrouck Heights, NJ) paced the Mount Saint Vincent Women’s Cross Country team to an eighth place finish at the Bard Invitational on Saturday by winning her third straight race to open the season. The men’s team took 11th place and was led by Andrew Giordano (Staten Island, NY), who finished 34th overall.

Iribarne took the top spot in the 118 runner field, posting a time of 20:32. She was followed by Stephanie Widmer in 29th place in 23:33 and Ana Garcia (Kingwood, NJ) in 48th place with a time of 25:45. Also having strong runs on Saturday were Mary Eileen Kiernan (Rockaway Point, NY) in 53rd place, Teresa Santini (Lynbrook, NY) in 69th place and Keianna McQueen (Brooklyn, NY) in the 71st position. The Dolphins finished the day in eighth place out of 16 competing teams.

Giordano paced the men’s team in the 135 runner field for the third straight race, as his time of 29:16 was good for 34th place. Ralph Kiszakicwicz (Ozone Park, NY) and Navin Purushothan (Orange, CT) continued their strong early seasons by finishing in 43rd and 48th with times of 30:15 and 30:33, respectively. Sophomore Colin Galvin (Thiells, NY) took 65th place on Saturday, while David Dion (Litchfield, CT) finished in 77th. Shane Thomas (Mount Vernon, NY) and Renaldo Phillip (White Plains, NY) rounded out the Dolphins contingent in 78th and 84th place. Overall the Dolphins placed 11th out of 17 competing teams.

Mount Saint Vincent will look to continue its success in 2008 on October 4 when they return to the trails at the Mount Saint Mary Invitational.
