Lorenzen posted a 10-2 win in her singles match against the Blue Angles on Friday and also teamed with Karen Laurent (Queens, NY) at second doubles for an 8-1 victory. Laurent was also a winner at second doubles with a 10-0 triumph. Senior Michelle Kirby (Bloomingdale, NJ) also had a strong showing in the Mount’s win, taking her match at sixth singles 10-0 and pairing with Courtney McElhone (Wading River, NY) at third doubles for an 8-3 victory.
On Saturday, the Mount ran into St. Joseph’s (LI) who was picked to finish third in the Skyline Conference Pre-Season Coaches poll. The Golden Eagles lost just three games in the singles competition in the match, picking up 6-0, 6-0 wins at third and sixth singles.
The win on Friday snapped a four match losing streak for the Mount and gave the Dolphins their second win of the season. Following the loss on Saturday, the Mount stands at 2-5 overall on the season and at 0-4 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will return to the court again on Saturday, September 27 when they host Polytechnic. The match will be played at Purchase starting at 12:00 p.m.
