Against the Golden Eagles, the Mount had a trio of players finish with three kills, as Tara Mead (Pearl River, NY), Lisa O’Shea (White Plains, NY) and Christina Pierre (Bronx, NY) all recorded three winners each.
Freshman Renee Reynes (Bronx, NY) continued her solid early season play in the initial match, finishing with a team-high 10 defensive digs to go along with three assists. Irma Nepomuceno (Bronx, NY), O’Shea and Jessica Williams (Cornwall, NY) all recorded four digs in the contest and Krystal Miranda (Putnam Valley, NY) posted 10 assists for the Dolphins.
St. Joseph’s (LI) hit an impressive .435 in the match, making only nine attack errors and recording 46 kills. Melissa O’Connor finished with 12 winners, while teammate Jennifer DeStefano posted 11 in the winning effort. Natalie Czelowalnik posted a match-high 25 assists for the Golden Eagles and Kasey Wood led everyone with 11 digs.
In Mount Saint Vincent’s win over Maritime, the team finished with 27 kills and was led by Nepomuceno with 10 winners. O’Shea added six kills in the win and also recorded a pair of defensive digs.
Reynes had a match-high in service aces with six as the Dolphins finished with 18 as a team. She also posted 12 more digs for the Mount to go along with an assist. Miranda posted 21 assists in the match, as the Mount finished with 25 assists on their 27 kills.
Maritime was led by Lauren Campbell with five kills, while Natalie Jackson recorded a double-double with 12 assists and 11 digs. The Privateers finished with four total blocks in the contest, with Jackson recording three solo blocks and one block assist.
The split on Saturday moves Mount Saint Vincent’s record to 5-4 overall and to 1-2 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will be back in action again on Monday, September 22 when they travel to the College of New Rochelle. The non-league match is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m.
