Angelica Iribarne paced Mount Saint Vincent with her second career win on Sunday at the Baruch Cross Country Invitational.

RIVERDALE, NY – Sophomore Angelica Iribarne (Hasbrouck Heights, NY) won her second career race on Sunday when she took first at the Baruch Cross Country Invitational. She led the women to a third place finish with 90 points, while freshman Andrew Giordano (Staten Island, NY) helped the men to a fourth place finish by taking eighth in the men’s race.

Iribarne dominated the field on Sunday, finishing the course in 25:32, a full minute ahead of Jessica Penaaherrera of Baruch who took second in 26:32. Stephanie Widmer and Mary Eileen Kiernan (Rockaway Point, NY) also had strong runs for the Mount taking 19th and 20th in 31:43 and 32:04, respectively. Rounding out the scoring five for the Dolphins were Ana Garcia (Kingwood, NJ) in 30th and Teresa Santini (Lynbrook, NY) in 54th.

Keianna McQueen (Brooklyn, NY) also had a solid run for the Mount on Sunday, taking 60th overall in the race.

On the men’s side, Giordano helped the Dolphins to a fourth place finish with 92 total points. He finished the course in eighth place, posting a time of 32:27 on the 8,000-meter course. Mount Saint Vincent had two other freshmen finish in the top-25 at the race, as Navin Purushothan (Orange, CT) took 14th in 32:56 and Ralph Kiszakicwicz (Ozone Park, NY) took 21st with a time of 33:54.

Finishing the top five for the Dolphins on Sunday were David Dion (Litchfield, CT) in 33rd place and Colin Galvin (Thiells, NY) in the 36th position.

After a strong season opening meet on Sunday, both the Mount men and women will be back on the trails on Saturday, September 13 when they take part in the Purchase Invitational.
