The Spartans jumped out to a quick lead on Wednesday, taking a 1-0 lead at the 12:21 mark of the first half when Liz Gronwoldt scored her first of two goals on the day. Following Gronwoldt’s second tally, Katherine Dapolito scored the next four goals for the Spartans as they took an 8-0 lead into the halftime intermission.
Overall in the contest, St. Thomas Aquinas held in the advantage in shots 27-0 and corner kicks 4-1, while fouls in the tilt were whistled 9-5 against the home standing Spartans.
At 0-2 overall on the season, Mount Saint Vincent will be back in action on September 9 when it opens Skyline Conference play at Yeshiva. Kick-off for the league opener is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
