Men’s Soccer Picked Eighth In Skyline Conference Pre-Season Poll

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men’s Soccer team has been picked to finish eighth in the Skyline Conference Pre-Season Coaches’ Poll that was released on Monday afternoon. The Dolphins received 27 points in the poll that is voted on by the league’s 10 head coaches.

St. Joseph’s (LI) was picked to win the league in 2008, finishing with 78 points, seven of which were first place votes. Following the Golden Eagles are Old Westbury and Farmingdale State each with 67 points. The Panthers earned a pair of first place votes, while the Rams finished with a single first place nod. Rounding out the top five in the poll are Maritime with 64 points and Mount Saint Mary with 46.

Purchase earned the sixth position with a point total of 37 and the Panthers were followed by Bard with 32 points. Rounding out the poll are the Dolphins in eighth (27), Polytechnic in ninth (20) and Yeshiva in tenth (12).

2008 will mark the first season for new head coach Brian Dunleavy at Mount Saint Vincent. He inherits a team that finished with an overall record of 6-11 in 2007 and with a Skyline mark of 3-6.

The Dolphins will kick-off the 2008 campaign on August 30 at the Drew Fall Festival. Mount Saint Vincent will take on the host Rangers on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
