Apply as a Transfer
Every year more than 120 students transfer from other institutions to Mount Saint Vincent, many of them to join our impressive nursing program. Others choose the Mount for its proximity to Manhattan and unparalleled internship opportunities.

Whatever your reasons, we welcome your application and urge you to visit our campus. Because we use a rolling admission process, you’ll receive your answer within four weeks of completing your application. Our deadlines for admission are January 5 for the spring and August 1 for the fall. Ready?

  1. Note our requirements and credit policies. To be eligible for admission, you should have earned a 2.00 grade point average or better in your college-level work. Applicants to the nursing major should have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0, and to the Teacher Education program, a cumulative grade point average of a 2.5.
Transfers from junior or community colleges may be granted a maximum of 65 credits; transfers from other four-year institutions, a maximum of 75 credits.
  2. Visit. You’ll love our campus, and we’ll get to know you better than we would from just reading your application.
  3. If you have earned fewer than 24 college credits, have your SAT or ACT scores sent to the admission office directly from the College Board. Our SAT code is 2088; our ACT code is 2823.
  4. If you have earned fewer than 24 college credits, you must also have your high school(s) forward your official transcript(s) to the admission office.
  5. Have your institution(s) forward official transcript(s) of your college-level work. If you have attended an international university, please have the transripts evaluated by World Education Services (http://www.wes.org/).
  6. Have a professor or teacher forward a letter of recommendation on your behalf.
  7. Complete the application. If you apply online, either through the Common Application or through our application, your application fee is waived. Or,  you can download a Mount Saint Vincent application, or a Common Application now, print, and send it in with the $35 fee.
  8. Submit an essay on a topic of your choice.
  9. Explore financial aid and scholarships. You’ll be considered automatically for merit scholarships when you submit your application. If you’re hoping for need-based aid, you should submit the FAFSA (http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/) to the federal government sometime soon after January 1. Our FAFSA code is 0002703.
