POMONA, NJ – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Baseball team’s season came to a close on Saturday with a 5-0 loss at Richard Stockton in the ECAC Metro Division Tournament. Senior Ryan Strub (Bohemia, NY) fired 7.0 strong innings for the Mount, while Zach Munroe (Milford, CT) and James Labartino (Hobrook, NY) recorded the only base hits for the Dolphins.

Stockton used three runs in the first inning and two more runs in the third to give starter Joe Mihalyi all the support he would need. Mihalyi worked a complete game shutout for the Ospreys, allowing just two base hits. He walked a pair of Dolphin batters and struck out 11.

Strub was also effective on Saturday for the Mount. In 7.0 innings he allowed six hits. He surrendered five runs, but only two of those were earned. He walked four and struck out four for the Mount. Senior Scott Taylor (Jersey City, NJ) pitched the final inning, allowing a hit and striking out a batter.

Munroe went 1-1 in the contest, while Labartino finished the game 1-2 with a pair of stolen bases. Eddie Park (East Meadow, NY) and Vinny Todino (Eastchester, NY) were the only other base runners for the Dolphins, as they drew walks in the game.

The loss ends the most successful season in Mount Saint Vincent baseball history with a 23-17 record. The Dolphins set a program mark for wins in a season in 2008, advanced to the Skyline Conference Championship Round and made the program’s first ever appearance in the ECAC Metro Division Tournament.
