Jon O’Leary Named Skyline Conference Pitcher Of The Week

John O'Leary was named Skyline Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday.
LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – College of Mount Saint Vincent senior pitcher Jon O’Leary (Bohemia, NY) has been named Skyline Conference Pitcher of the Week it was announced on Tuesday afternoon. O’Leary helped Mount Saint Vincent to the league championship round by going 2-0 with a shutout in the Skyline Conference Tournament.

O’Leary picked up his first win on Wednesday against Polytechnic in the tournament’s opening round. Against the Fighting Blue Jays, O’Leary worked 6.0 innings and allowed just two runs on two hits. He struck out a pair and walked just one in the winning effort.

On Sunday, with the Dolphins needing a win to stay alive in the Skyline Conference Tournament, O’Leary turned in a gem for the Mount. He fired a complete game shutout against the Rams to force a decisive second game. Over his 9.0 innings of work, O’Leary did not allow a run on eight hits. He fanned a pair against two walks for the Mount.

Although the Dolphins lost the second game, they recorded a program best 23 wins in 2008. At 23-15 the Dolphins will face Ramapo in the first round of the ECAC Division III Metro Division Tournament which kicks off this week.
