Softball Downed By Polytechnic In Skyline Tournament
Dolphins will look to repeat in HVWAC Tournament on Saturday
5/1/2008 - BROOKLYN, NY – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Softball team was defeated by Polytechnic on Wednesday in the Skyline Conference tournament by a score of 13-0. Mount Saint Vincent will look to rebound on Saturday when it takes part in the Hudson Valley Women’s Athletic Conference Tournament held at Saint Elizabeth. The Dolphins will enter the tournament as the top seed after an unbeaten regular season in league play.

On Wednesday, the Dolphins could manage just five base hits. Lisa O’Shea (White Plains, NY), Karissa Koerner (Bay Shore, NY), Ariella Tirado (Newburgh, NY), Meghan Flaherty (Yonkers, NY) and Mary Kate Walker (Warwick, NY) all picked up singles for the Mount.

Megan Gonzalez (Fishers, IN) took the loss for Mount Saint Vincent against the Fighting Blue Jays. She worked four innings and allowed 15 hits. She struck out a pair of Polytechnic batters and walked three.

The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 18-17 overall on the season. The Dolphins will meet Sarah Lawrence on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. With a win they will move on to the HVWAC Championship game scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
