College of Mount Saint Vincent Celebrates Founders Day April 16
4/11/2008 - Riverdale, NY – The College of Mount Saint Vincent will celebrate Founders Day with campus-wide events on Wednesday, April 16, 2008. Founders Day commemorates the Sisters of Charity who established Mount Saint Vincent in 1847, and the models of charity from which the College draws its inspiration: Saint Vincent de Paul, Saint Louise de Marillac, and Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton. The College will celebrate an historic 161 years of providing a superior education for its students.

Festivities commence with a Commuters Breakfast from 8:00-10:00 a.m. in Crossroads in the Administration Building, an area where commuters gather while waiting for their next class. The day will proceed with an Employee Service Awards Brunch where staff and faculty are recognized for their years of service to the college.  It will be followed by the Founders Day Liturgy.  Diversity Desserts is a tasty celebration of the many ethnic groups on campus where students, faculty and staff are encouraged to create and to share desserts with their peers that reflect their unique heritage.  There will be a tour of the 70 acre campus along with a host of other events.

A forum entitled “From Mother Seton to CMSV 2008: Celebrating Diversity and Resisting Discrimination” sponsored by Values and Founders Day committees will be held in the President’s Reception Room from 4:05 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.  In addition, the Sisters of Charity will be making presentations at the invitation of faculty in classes throughout the day. The day will conclude with the Midnight Run at 9:30 p.m., which is a Campus Ministry sponsored outreach effort to feed and clothe the homeless of the New York metropolitan area.

All members of the college community are welcome.  Contact the public relations office at (718) 405-3341 for additional information.
