Mount Saint Vincent continued to start quickly as it plated a run in its first at-bat for the eighth time in its last 11 contests. The Dolphins got on the board after Brendon Russo (Westbury, NY) singled and was pushed home on a Munroe double.
The Mount jumped out to a two run lead in the third inning when it scored a run on a bases loaded walk to Tanner Munroe (Milford, CT). The lead would expand to four runs in the fifth inning after Mount Saint Vincent plated two more runs. Tanner Munroe pushed across the first run on an RBI single, before Al Schor (Norwalk, CT) knocked in the second with a sacrifice fly.
Yeshiva came through with four runs in the home half of fifth to tie the score. The Maccabees scored their four runs on three hits. Yeshiva scored its runs on a balk, a hit batter with the bases loaded, a walk to follow and an RBI single to tie the score.
The Dolphins jumped back on top in the top of the seventh with two more runs. After Pope led of the inning getting hit by a pitch and Vinny Todino (Eastchester, NY) walked, Zach Munroe drove both home with a double to give the Mount a 6-4 lead after six and a half innings. The Dolphins would add two more in the seventh to jump up by four runs for the second time in the contest.
After the Dolphins added a run in the eighth to take a 9-4 lead, Yeshiva plated four more runs in the eighth to pull back within one run. A two-run single from Austin Feld keyed the rally for the Macs.
Mount Saint Vincent would secure the win after scoring four runs on three hits in the top of the ninth. Zach Munroe and John McManus (Bayside, NY) picked up run scoring singles in the frame to send the Dolphins to the win.
Russo scored three runs in the game, while Joe Blackford (Stewartsville, NJ), Zach Munroe and Pope all scored a pair. Blackford picked up two hits and drove in a run on the night, while Tanner Munroe finished with two RBI.
The win marks the third straight game the Dolphins have scored at least 10 runs and the team has posted double digit hits in 10 games this season after posting 13 on Tuesday night.
The win moves the Mount to 10-11 overall on the season and to 5-4 in Skyline Conference play. The two teams will square-off again on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. at Taft High School.
