Dolphins Sweep Maritime For First Two Skyline Conference Wins
O’Shea collects five hits, three RBI over two games

Megan Gonzalez fired a pair of two hit shutouts on Sunday at Maritime.
THROGGS NECK, NY – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Softball team won its first two Skyline Conference games of the season on Sunday with a doubleheader sweep at Maritime. The Dolphins won game one by a score of 12-0, before taking game two 9-0. Lisa O’Shea (White Plains, NY) continued her strong play on Sunday by collecting five hits and driving in three runs on the day.

In the opener, O’Shea was one of four Dolphins to record at least two hits. She went 3-3 with four runs scored and three RBI. Dana McGuire (Setauket, NY) went 2-5 in game one with a run scored, while Nina Pagani (Yonkers, NY) and Meghan Flaherty (Yonkers, NY) each collected a pair of hits and scored a run. Jillian Troncoso (West Haverstraw, NY) scored a run and finished with two RBI for the Dolphins in game one.

Megan Gonzalez (Fishers, IN) threw a two hit shutout in the opener for the Dolphins for her fifth win of the season. She fired 5.0 innings, allowing just the two hits and recording one strikeout.

In game two, the Dolphins pounded out 10 hits on their way to nine runs. O’Shea, Karissa Koerner (Bay Shore, NY) and Troncoso each finished the second game 2-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Mount Saint Vincent plated five runs in the first inning and added four insurance runs in the second to take the set.

Gonzalez was again strong for the Mount, as she fired her second two hit shutout of the day. In game two she worked 5.0 innings and struck out four. She did not allow a walk in her 10.0 innings of work on Sunday. The two wins moves her record to 6-6 on the season.

The win moves Mount Saint Vincent to 7-9 overall on the season and to 2-4 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will return to action on Tuesday for a Hudson Valley Women’s Athletic Conference doubleheader at the College of New Rochelle. First pitch is slated for 4:00 p.m.
