Women’s Lacrosse Takes Third Straight With Win At Morrisville
Adams scores four goals for third straight game

Kelly Martin recorded nine points on Sunday in Mount Saint Vincent's win at Morrisville.
MORRISVILLE, NY – Cyndi Adams (Mechanicsville, MD) scored four goals for the third straight game as the College of Mount Saint Vincent Women’s Lacrosse team won at Morrisville on Sunday by a score of 13-9. Kelly Martin (Stony Point, NY) added three goals on the afternoon and Katie Zimmerman (Kings Park, NY) chipped in a pair as the Dolphins won their third straight contest.

After Morrisville opened the scoring, it added the equalizer after Mount Saint Vincent had reeled off two straight to take a one goal advantage. After Morrisville’s Jennifer Caffarelli tied the score at 2-2 with 18:52 left in the first half, Mount Saint Vincent ran off five straight goals to take a 7-2 lead with 5:00 left in the opening period. Martin and Adams each scored twice in that stretch for the Dolphins.

Morrisville would score two of the final three goals in the frame to pull to within four, at 8-4 heading into halftime. That would be as close as it would get the rest of the afternoon, as the two teams played an even second half. Each would score five goals as Mount Saint Vincent held on for the four goal win.

Martin had an impressive day for the Dolphins, as she added six assists to her three goals for a nine point afternoon. Jessie Mitchell (Suffern, NY) continued her solid rookie campaign with a goal and an assist, while Lauren Perla (Holbrook, NY) and Stacie Tripp (Glen Cove, NY) each contributed a goal and an assist.

Jackie Horn (Setauket, NY) played the full 60:00 in the cage on Sunday and made seven saves. Horn also picked up a team-high five groundballs for the Dolphins.

Perla scooped up three groundballs for the Mount on Sunday, while Megan Fleri (Islip, NY), Cynthia Osorio (Oceanside, NY), Alexis Alessi (Rockville Centre, NY) and Tripp each collected a pair. Osorio, Mitchell and Perla each caused two turnovers in the contest, while Mitchell won six draw controls.

Morrisville was led by Caffarelli who finished with four goals, while Sybil Stanton finished with three markers. Stephanie Smith made 10 saves on the afternoon and picked up nine groundballs.

Overall, Mount Saint Vincent held the edge in shots 26-19 and in draw controls 13-11. Morrisville picked up 25 groundballs to Mount Saint Vincent’s 20 on Sunday and turnovers went 28-21 against Morrisville. Morrisville converted five of its nine free position shots, while the Dolphins would convert just one of seven.

The win improves Mount Saint Vincent’s record to 4-5 overall on the season. The Dolphins will play one final non-conference game on Tuesday at the College of New Jersey. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
