Men’s Tennis Drops Season Opener At Farmingdale State
John Furka wins at sixth singles for Mount Saint Vincent
4/3/2008 - FARMINGDALE, NY – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men’s Tennis team opened the 2008 season with an 8-1 loss at Farmingdale State on Wednesday afternoon. Freshman John Furka (Massapequa, NY) picked up the Mount’s lone win in the match at sixth singles.

Furka was victorious over Farmingdale’s William Jimenez by scores of 7-6, 7-4, 5-7 and 10-5. Furka also teamed with Joe Nickerson (Jersey City, NJ) at third doubles on Wednesday. The duo dropped a tough 8-4 decision to Joe Hotzak and Jimenez from Farmingdale.

The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 0-1 overall on the season and to 0-1 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will be back in action again on Thursday when they travel to Staten Island. The match is set to begin at 3:30 p.m.
