Dolphins drop a pair to Saint Thomas University
Gonzalez collects four hits over two games

Megan Gonzalez recorded two hits in each game on Monday against Saint Thomas University.
STUART, FL – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Softball squad dropped a doubleheader to Saint Thomas University on Monday by scores of 8-3 and 14-3. Three Dolphins had two hits in the first game of the set, with Megan Gonzalez (Fishers, IN) leading the Mount with four base hits over the two games.

In the opening game, Mount Saint Vincent worked out seven hits with Jillian Troncoso (West Haverstraw, NY), Ariella Tirado (Newburgh, NY) and Gonzalez each going 2-3. Karissa Koerner (Bay Shore, NY) picked up the other hit for the Dolphins, one of two Mount Saint Vincent doubles. Trancoso scored a pair of runs in the game, with Koerner crossing the plate once. Trancoso and Tirado each finished the game with an RBI.

Gonzalez started her third straight game in the opener and worked six innings. She walked one and struck out a pair of Saint Thomas batters as she fell to 0-3. Gonzalez allowed four earned runs, eight total, on 11 hits.

In the second game, Gonzalez went 2-2 at the plate with an RBI, with Lisa O’Shea (White Plains, NY) also collecting a pair of hits and an RBI. Dana McGuire (East Setauket, NY), Mary Kate Walker (Warwick, NY) and Marcella Rodriguez (Huntington Station, NY) scored the Mount runs in game two.

Tirado got the start in the second game and worked two innings, allowing six runs, four earned, on six hits. Gonzalez came on to work three innings and gave up eight hits and struck out a batter.

The sweep drops the Mount to 0-4 on the season. The Dolphins will be back in action in Florida again on Tuesday afternoon against Marywood. First pitch for the doubleheader is scheduled for Noon.
