| Zach Munroe went 4-4 with five RBI in the Dolphins' 15-1 game two win on Sunday. |
In the opening game, the Dolphins reached six runs on eight hits. Blackford went 2-3 in the contest with a double and an RBI. Nick Canzano (Farmington, NY) also collected two hits, going 2-4 in the opener. Jason Salute (Bronx, NY) and Josh Cuozzo (Westbury, NY) each had a hit in the game for the Dolphins, while Al Schor (Norwalk, CT) and Munroe each picked up an RBI.
Freshman Mike Trainor (Patterson, NY) worked four innings in his first career start. He earned his first career win in the seven inning contest after allowing just three hits. He did not allow a run, walked just two and struck out five. Nick Triolo (Homer, NY) came on and worked two scoreless innings and struck out five. Blackford closed the game out, firing a scoreless inning in which he fanned two.
In game two, the Dolphins pounded out 20 base hits to reach 15 runs. 10 players recorded at least one hit and the Mount had five players record at least two hits, led by Munroe’s four. Blackford was again 2-3 with a pair of RBI, while Mike Pope (Massapequa, NY), John McManus (Bayside, NY) and Vinny Todino (Eastchester, NY) each went 2-4 with an RBI. All three freshmen picked up their first career collegiate hit in the contest.
Senior Ryan Strub (Bohemia, NY) moved his record to 1-0 after firing five innings of one run baseball. Strub allowed one earned run on two hits in his second appearance of the season. He walked two batters and struck out five in the win. Ricky Garcia (Garden City, NY) worked the final two innings and stuck out a pair of Utica batters.
The sweep on Sunday moved the Dolphins record to 3-2 overall on the season. Mount Saint Vincent will be back in action again Monday night when they take on Carleton. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
