In the opening game of the set, the Dolphins finished with six hits with Zach Munroe (Milford, CT) going 2-4 with a run scored. Schor went 1-3 in the contest and drove in both Mount runs.
Jon O’Leary (Bohemia, NY) got the start in game one and went 3.0 innings, allowing six hits and seven runs, only three of which were earned. He struck out four and walked three in his first appearance of the season. Corey Kirsh (East Meadow, NY) worked four innings in relief and allowed a pair of runs on four hits and struck out one. Ryan Strub (Bohemia, NY) recorded one inning of work and allowed just one hit.
Mercy picked up 11 hits in the opener. Craig Ross went 3-4 for the Mavericks with two runs scored and an RBI. Anthony DiCarlo picked up the win, going 6.0 innings allowing two runs on four hits. DiCarlo struck out eight and walked three.
In game two, Palandro allowed just one hit over 5.2 innings of work to earn his first win of the season. He struck out six, walked three and allowed just one unearned run. Nate Todd (Holyoke, MA) and Joe Blackford (Stewartsville, NJ) pitched the final 1.1 innings to close the door. The duo allowed just two base runners and Blackford recorded his first save after getting out of a bases loaded jam in the seventh.
Schor was the only batter to record two hits in the game, as he went 2-2 with a run scored and a pair of RBI. Both of Schor’s hits went for extra bases as he ripped a double and a home run in the win. Tanner Munroe (Milford, CT) also laced a double for the Mount who earned its first win of the season.
At 1-1 the Dolphins will return to action when they take on Penn State-Behrend in Fort Pierce, FL on March 15. Mount Saint Vincent will play six games on its southern trip from March 15-March 18.
