Curriculum
Major
To major in history, a student must pass ten history courses (thirty credits) with grades of C or better. The ten courses are distributed as follows:
- HIST 214: Shaping of the Modern World
- One Pre-Modern Course (HIST 210: Classical Civiliations, HIST 211: Medieval History, or HIST 212: Eastern Roman Empire)
- Two European history courses
- Two Amercan history courses
- Two Non-Western history courses
- One upper-level history elective
- One senior colloquium
Minor
To minor in history, a student must pass six history courses (eighteen credits) with grades of C or better. The six courses are distributed as follows:
- HIST 214: Shaping of the Modern World
- One European history course
- One American history course
- One Non-Western history course
- Two upper-level history electives.
